Good time enjoyed by all at the City of Blue Ridge Manor's Citizen Appreciation/Open House

Publication1

This past Saturday, February 18th, Councilwoman Parker (pictured above with the Mayor of Blue Ridge Manor, Carla Kreitman) the City of Blue Ridge Manor held their Citizen Appreciation Open House at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 10200 Shelbyville Road. It was a chance to meet the Mayor, the City Commissioners and Councilwoman Parker herself as well as City vendors and businesses. They had great food, great music and great conversations!
Blue Ridge Manor is new to Metro Council District 18 with re-districting and the Councilwoman welcomed the chance to meet everyone while having a good time!
Pictured below with Mayor Kreitman are (from left to right) Blue Ridge Manor Commissioners Jake Gross, Debbie Mills and Jonathan Ayer! Thank you to everyone!

Metro Council accepting resumes for District 8 vacancy

Louisville Metro Council

The Louisville Metro Council has accepted the resignation of District 8 Councilwoman Cassie Chambers Armstrong. Chambers Armstrong was elected to fill the Kentucky Senate District 19 vacancy, formerly held by Congressman Morgan McGarvey.

The Metro Council now moves forward in finding a replacement.  KRS 67C.103(12) states that in the event of a vacancy, “council shall elect a qualified resident of the council district not later than thirty (30) days after the date the vacancy occurs.”  KRS 67C.103(6) defines a qualified person as “at least eighteen (18) years old, a qualified voter, and a resident within the territory of the consolidated local government and the district that he or she seeks to represent for at least one (1) year immediately prior to the person's election.” Council Rule 10.08 states: “Within seven (7) business days after a vacancy shall have occurred on the Council, qualified persons interested in being appointed pursuant to Kentucky Revised Statutes to the vacant seat shall submit a resume to the Clerk of the Council.” All persons interested in filing for the District 8 Metro Council seat, who meet the criteria stated above in KRS 67C.103, should submit a resume by email to the Metro Council Clerk at MetroCouncilClerk@louisvilleky.gov on or before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023. Resumes sent by registered or certified mail to the Metro Council Clerk, 601 W. Jefferson Street, 40202, must be postmarked no later than March 3, 2023, and must be received in the Clerk’s office within four (4) business days after mailing.

The Metro Council will hold a special Committee of the Whole meeting to interview eligible District 8 applicants on Monday, March 13, at 4:00 p.m., and will appoint the District 8 Councilmember at the regularly scheduled Metro Council meeting on Thursday, March 16. For more information, please visit the Metro Council Clerk’s website at https://louisvilleky.gov/government/metro-council/metro-council-clerk.

The latest Metro Clean Collaborative Crew Totals

Louisville Metro seal

The Clean Collaborative Crew removed 304 bags of litter, 28 tires, and 85 other items from 61.78 curb miles and completed 15 service requests. The Louisville Downtown Partnership’s Clean Collaborative Crew collected 214 pounds of litter and debris between February 13 and February 19th from their area.

I would also like to take a moment to introduce a new partnership with Clean Collaborative. OneWest has a wonderful team that, for the last five years, has collected litter four times a week on W Broadway from S 18th to S 26th and S 18th from W Muhammad Ali to W Broadway. We certainly appreciate the hard work they are out there doing!

Since January 2023, the Clean Collaborative Crew has completed 137 service requests and removed 2,131 bags of litter, 197 tires, and 893 other items from 450.11 curb miles. In addition, Louisville Downtown Partnership’s Clean Collaborative Crew has collected 1,452 pounds from their downtown expanded area since January 2023.
