Pop-Up Drop-Offs are free recycling and large item disposal events for residents of Jefferson County.

Pop-Up Drop-Off Accepted Items:

Up to 3 electronic items (recycled)

Metal & appliances, no refrigerators or any items containing coolant (recycled)

Up to 4 passenger tires (recycled)

Household recyclables, follow curbside rules (recycled)

Yard waste, follow curbside rules, wooden pallets (composted)

Large household items (landfilled)

Documents for shredding (recycled)

Prescription medication (disposed properly)

Items must already be separated into categories for easy off-loading so as much can be recycled as possible.

 

Not Accepted:

Garbage, loose debris (use curbside garbage collection or take to landfill)

Concrete, bricks, rocks

Construction debris (take to Waste Reduction Center, fees apply)

Refrigerators or items containing coolant (take to Waste Reduction Center, or metal recycling facility)

Latex paint (disposal information)

Batteries, light bulbs, oil-based paint, varnishes, stains, and other household hazardous waste (take to Haz Bin)

Tree trunks  

Boats, hot tubs

Items from businesses

Trailers greater than 10 feet in length (larger loads can be taken to the Waste Reduction Center)

Detailed list of acceptable items in each category (Every possible item is not listed, so use this list as a guide.)

Cafe LOUIE is this Saturday, March 4th at 9 AM at Jeffersontown Public Library

Café LOUIE is designed to be an informal gathering of civic minded individuals interested in meeting with their elected officials to discuss local issues. When you arrive, grab a cup of Heine Brothers coffee and fill out a notecard with your specific question(s). After a brief introduction of elected officials and special guests, a trained facilitator will direct your questions to officials for comment and discussion.

All Café LOUIE meetings begin at 9:00 a.m. Stick around after the event for additional programming available at some branch locations, register to vote with the League of Women Voters, sign up to be a Friend of the Library, or just visit your local branch and check out a good book!

SummerWorks Registration Now Open

SummerWorks 2023

Registration for SummerWorks 2023 is now open. SummerWorks, operated by YouthBuild Louisville in conjunction with KentuckianaWorks, partners with many of the city's largest private sector employers, non-profits, public agencies, and educational institutions to hire young people between the ages of 16 and 21. Once youth register online, they can create and upload a resume, get soft skills training, and apply for job opportunities geared towards their interests. Miracle League: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Friday, March 17 at 12:00pm

The Miracle League of Louisville

We are excited to announce the completion of the accessible restrooms in Fern Creek Park! Councilman Engel along with Miracle League of Louisville representatives will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 17th at 12:00 p.m. to celebrate the completion of the long awaited accessible restrooms in the park. We will also celebrate the new pavilion adjacent to the Miracle League playground! Please join us as we celebrate the new upgraded facilities.

WHO: Friends of Fern Creek Park, Miracle League players and families, and those who support and love our Metro Parks. 

WHAT: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new accessible restrooms and pavilion.
