Christmas tree drop-off sites will be available for all Louisville/Jefferson County residents at three locations. The Hubbards Lane site will also instantly recycle Christmas trees into mulch that will be offered back to citizens for home use. Those wishing to receive mulch must bring an appropriate container in which to carry it. All lights and ornaments should be removed from trees before they are dropped off.

Metro Public Works will also provide curbside pickup of Christmas trees within the Urban Services District after the holiday. Residents with City curbside yard waste pickup may set their Christmas trees and greenery out on their regular collection day. Trees may not be in plastic bags and all decorations must be removed.
Residents normally serviced by private waste haulers should check with those companies to see whether and when tree pickup is available

This is the third consecutive year Waterfront Park has been nominated in the national competition. Last year, the park competed with 19 other riverwalks across the country and placed fourth in the category. This year, they are looking to claim first place – but they need YOUR HELP. TARC is implementing minor service changes to Routes #10, #19, #23, and #46. Changes went into effect January 22, 2023.
Route #10: This Dixie BRT (Route #10) will have a minor time adjustment with Northbound routes leaving Dixie Gardens 4 to 5 minutes sooner.
Route #19: This route will no longer service Lexington Road from Baxter to Payne Street. There will be an elimination of four stops Eastbound and Westbound along Lexington Road. The KYTC project on this stretch of Lexington Road requires us to reroute this portion of Route 19.
Route #23: Routes Eastbound and Westbound will have a slight time adjustment to accommodate new service trips to GE Appliance Park. These new service times will enter GEA through the Newburg Neighborhood. Eastbound: new service for GEA will arrive at 12:55 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. Westbound: new service for GEA will arrive at 10:54 p.m.
Route #46: This route will no longer layover inside Iroquois Park. Instead the layover will now be on Alpine Way. There will be an elimination of service on Kenwood Road in both directions. This route will now service Palatka Ave Eastbound and Westbound. Stops along Kenwood Road will be eliminated but the Route 46 will still be in a few blocks walking distance to Route 4 and Route 6.

The Louisville Asset Building Coalition’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, or VITA, provides trained, IRS-certified volunteers who offer free tax services at 11 sites across the city. VITA is available to individuals and families who earned less than $66,000 in 2022.
To help preparers accurately determine prepare returns EITC eligibility at VITA and AARP Tax Aide sites, individuals should bring:
- Picture ID and Social Security cards for everyone listed on the return
- Copy of 2021 tax return with all attachments and schedules
- W-2s and 1099s from your employers
- Other 1099s for interest, dividends, state tax refund or other income
- Form 1099-G for any unemployment compensation received during the year
- 1095-A for health insurance
- 1098 for education credit, plus a detailed financial statement from the school
- Bank account number and routing number for direct deposit as well as savings account number (if applicable)
- If you do not have a bank account, we can help you open a Bank On certified account.
- Childcare information, including Provider ID and actual amounts paid
- Summarized list of other income/expenses for those who itemize or are self-employed
- Additional tax information that may be required
- Masks are required at all VITA sites

REAL ID Driver's Licenses Now Offered in New Louisville - Dixie Highway/Willismore location Driver Licensing Regional Office
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has opened a NEW Driver Licensing Regional Office in our area!
The new Driver Licensing Regional Office (6202 Willismore Drive) is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm.
The new office in Louisville will eventually replace a smaller regional office on Dixie Highway. Kentuckians can visit the new office for a full array of driver licensing services, regardless of their county of residence. Services include issuance, renewal or updating of driver licenses, learner permits, commercial driver licenses (CDL) and identification cards. Credentials are available in either standard-issue form or as a REAL ID. Customers also have the option of a four-year or eight-year credential.

Illegally dumped trash is more than just an eyesore! It is expensive to clean up, it negatively impacts our quality of life and economic development, and the plastic debris may end up in our waterways and oceans. Individuals caught dumping illegally may have their vehicle impounded and face fines and fees totaling about $1,000.
We have recently posted images on social media asking for help identifying illegal dumpers caught on camera and reporting when a vehicle was impounded. WDRB also helped spread the word about the negative impacts of illegal dumping. View their story here.
Residents are encouraged to fill out this online form if they witness illegal dumping. The form can also be used to share home security camera footage or images of illegal dumping occurring with our Solid Waste Enforcement Department. Did you know..? Many waste materials can be dropped off legally and for FREE. Up to three large household items, up to 4 passenger tires, and up to 3 electronics items can be dropped off for free at the at the Waste Reduction Center, located at 636 Meriwether Avenue. A pickup truckload of yard waste or construction debris can be disposed for only $60.00.
Residents can also utilize the free Pop-Up Drop-Off events that occur monthly, on a Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., March - November, in various parts of Jefferson County. Senior Nutrition Program provides nutritional lunchtime meals to active senior citizens at Congregate Meal Sites and delivers to homebound seniors through the Meals on Wheels Program, throughout the Louisville Metro area. These programs help to improve the lives of older adults by supporting good nutritional health and promoting their independence and well-being.

Southwest Community Ministries is currently overwhelmed with families who have never needed assistance before but are running out of household and hygiene products! They are asking for help from members of the community, youth groups, or anyone willing to donate.
If you would prefer to give food donations, items such as ravioli, ramen, fruit cups, canned meats, soups, and peanut butter crackers are always good options. Things like Ensure and pull top lids are good for seniors as well!

At the Waste Reduction Center, Louisville/Jefferson County residents can dispose of tires, household bulky waste such as metals, appliances, electronics, tree limbs and stumps up to three feet in diameter, unbagged yard waste, construction debris, and furniture.
