Councilman Update

Dear District 25 friends and neighbors,

I hope you all are doing well. It has been a busy month for us here in the District 25 Metro Council office. The Metro Council Republican Caucus and I recently met with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. I shared with him our district 25 priorities and we discussed the issues of crime, homelessness, and substance abuse in Louisville. I also attended my first Metro Council committee meetings for Planning and Zoning, as well as Labor and Economic Development. In addition to these two committees, I will be serving on the Parks Committee.

In the past few weeks, my office has had several meetings with the leaders of various metro government departments. Earlier this week, my legislative assistants and I met with the director of Metro Public Works to discuss District 25 road paving priorities and projected completion dates. We also met with the manager of the Southwest Regional Library, which has some really exciting developments coming. The library plans on dedicating a “maker space” for art creation and events, a technology area with computer literacy training, and more.

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a Jefferson County Suburban Fire Services meeting. I learned more about their concerns and needs for improving fire service reaction times. Additionally, I met with the Association of Community Ministries to discuss their meals on wheels program and the future growth of the service in Jefferson County. I look forward to meeting with more community and government leaders. As always, feel free to reach out to me and my office with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Khalil Batshon
