+ City announces opportunity to apply for the External Agency Fund Competitive Grants
Louisville Metro Government (LMG) is accepting applications on January 18, 2023 from local nonprofits for programs or activities that contribute to the city's cultural, social, and economic vitality. These grants, which are funded through the city’s General Fund, are awarded to non-governmental or "external” agencies for LMG Fiscal Year 2024 (July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024). + Louisville awarded “Dollarwise Innovation Grant” to strengthen the childcare infrastructure
 Louisville Metro Government has received a grant from the U.S. Conference of Mayors to provide language access and wraparound support to immigrant and refugee women who aim to open family childcare homes. The $10,000 Dollarwise Innovation Grant is awarded to 8 projects nationwide and is designed to support new programs that expand economic mobility and intergenerational wealth for residents.
The “Strengthening the Village: Family Child Care Homes & Career Pathways Support for Immigrant & Refugee Women” grant will be a partnership between the Office for Women, the Office for Globalization, the Office of Early Childhood, Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C), Child Care Aware and Catholic Charities Language Access Services. The initiative will recruit, train, and provide wraparound coaching and support to a cohort of immigrant and refugee women to open family childcare homes and pursue related career pathways.
“Language barriers in training and certification have often prevented immigrant and refugee women from opening family childcare homes in the past,” according to Amos Izerimana, Director of the Office of Globalization. This initiative will ensure that quality interpretation and translation is available every step of the way in training and professional development."
+ Mayor Craig Greenberg announces investments in affordable housing, homelessness support
 Mayor Craig Greenberg announced on Thursday a sweeping package to address homelessness and affordable housing in Louisville. The Mayor’s plan calls for $8.25 million in assistance to prevent homelessness, $24 million for the creation of permanent affordable housing, and additional funds to create of a new community care campus to address a major gap in the continuum of care for individuals experiencing homelessness
+ Capacity Building Fellowship now accepting applications
 The Office for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods (OSHN) is excited to share the application for their Capacity Building Fellowship. The goal of the fellowship is to build capacity of and support for organizations within the city to facilitate evidence-based, equity-centered violence prevention efforts.
This initiative is an opportunity to invest in and institutionalize violence prevention standards by supporting strategies that are comprehensive, socially-just, and grounded in the public health approach. In doing so, the Capacity Building Fellowship will provide trainings and technical assistance to help grassroot organizations overcome their self-identified barriers and become more successful and sustainable in their efforts. In addition, selected applicants will receive up to a $20,000 grant to support their mission.
The application will be open until January 31 at 11:59 p.m.
LIHEAP and MSD are offering utility bill assistance
 Louisville Metro Office of Resilience and Community Services is now accepting appointments for the annual Crisis Component of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The program assists income-eligible households in Jefferson County with home heating costs from January 9 through March 31, 2023, or until funds are depleted. Ms. Ameri will share her thoughts and current developments in the Iranian protests - what it means for the country and its people, and what role the U.S. and the international community have to support the people of Iran.
