Councilman Update

Dear District 25 friends and neighbors,

My name is Khalil “Charlie” Batshon. Last week I was sworn in to be your Louisville Metro Councilman for council District 25. For those of you who don’t know me, I live in the Prairie Village neighborhood with my wife, Tabatha, and our three sons. I’ve been in the restaurant business since 2007 as the owner of Khalil’s Restaurant, Bar and Catering off Dixie Highway. I’m a proud graduate of Pleasure Ridge Park High School and an active member of Southeast Christian Church.

Earlier last week I attended the inauguration of Mayor Craig Greenberg. I look forward to working with Mayor Greenberg to improve Louisville and better serve the needs of the South End. I am committed to holding the mayor accountable to his stated goal of fostering a better working relationship with the Metro Council to make our city a safer, more vibrant place to work and live. I also attended my first Metro Council meeting as a councilman. We unanimously elected Markus Winkler to be the new Metro Council President, following David James’ resignation. We also honored Chris Lewis for his service to Metro Council and the city of Louisville as legislative assistant for District 18. Chris is a fantastic public servant and a great friend. I am grateful for his service and his help in getting me where I am today as a member of the council.

I am honored by the opportunity to serve our community. As your Councilman, I will advocate for a safer Louisville by giving greater support to the Louisville Metro Police Department. I will also work to alleviate our homeless and substance abuse crises. I pledge to you that I will be transparent and open to ideas, questions, and fair criticism. I encourage you to reach out to my office whenever by calling 502-574-1125, or emailing me at khalil.batshon@louisvilleky.gov. In addition to myself, my legislative assistants, Amanda Blackburn and Alex Reynolds, will be able to help you in all of your local government needs. Thank you for the opportunity to serve.

Sincerely, Khalil Batshon
