Join Councilwoman Amy Holton Stewart (D-25) for the inaugural Youth Fishing Derby at Waverly Park, located at 4800 Waverly Park Road.
The event is scheduled to run from 10 AM – 2 PM and is free and open to the public.
Competitors may register online, or in-person the day of the event. You must be between the ages of 2 - 15 years old to participate. A parent or guardian must accompany the youth participants. There are two time slots available, 10AM – Noon and Noon – 2 PM. Equipment and bait will be available, or you are welcome to bring your own. Prizes will be drawn throughout the day.
If you get hungry, Top Dog Enterprise will be onsite to fuel your appetite with burgers and hotdogs, which will be available for purchase.
“I’m excited to host this family friendly event for young fishing enthusiasts,” says Holton Stewart. “Grab your bait and a fishing pole and I’ll see you at Waverly Park.”
Waverly Park Lake will be fully stocked with trout and catfish, so there will be plenty of fish to be caught.

Jefferson County Voting
Election Day is November 8, and it's time to make a plan to vote. There are multiple ways to vote, including three days of early voting for any registered voter. (Thanks to Councilman Bill Hollander's newsletter for the following information.)
Voters with certain excuses can vote at the Jefferson County Election Center through November 2. That includes students who temporarily reside outside Jefferson County.
Early Voting – Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 3, 4 and 5
Any registered voter can vote at any one of seven locations on Thursday, Friday or Saturday next week - November 3, 4 and 5 - from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Election Day – Tuesday, November 8
If you haven't voted early, you can vote at your assigned polling place on Election Day, November 8, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you are in line at 6 p.m., you will be allowed to vote. Follow the link to see where you vote.
The ballot this year is long. You’ll need to turn it over to vote in many judicial races and on the two, very important constitutional amendments. By entering your address, you can see your ballot here: My Ballot (jeffersoncountyclerk.org).

TARC is Fare-Free on Election Day, November 8

TARC is offering fare-free service this Election Day. All routes on TARC will be fare-free on Tuesday, November 8 to provide convenient, free access to and from General Election polling places in Louisville and Southern Indiana.
TARC will operate its normal service on all fixed routes on Election Day. Passengers can skip the fare box and take the route to the stop nearest their polling place or any other destination. Service will also be fare-free for TARC3 paratransit customers on Election Day.

Leaf Drop-Off Sites
The Metro Public Works free leaf drop-off sites will be open Tuesday-Saturdays, November 8 through December 10. Drop-off will not be available on November 24 and 25 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Only leaves will be accepted and they must be in paper/compostable bags or reusable containers. Containers used to bring leaves to the drop-off sites must be taken back by residents.

Horrorpalooza Weekend is a weekend of horror and paranormal for fans of all things spooky. It will include celebrity tours, vendors, a horror makeup artist, psychics, seminars and more!
Participating actors announced so far include Danielle Harris (the "Halloween" movie series), Michael Pare (“Village of the Damned”), John Dugan (“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”), Chase Wright Vanek (“Halloween 2”), and Rob Mello (“Happy Death Day”).

Senior Discount Recipients Must Recertify Eligibility
The Louisville MSD rate discount for low-income customers triples from the previous 10 percent to 30 percent effective with billing periods beginning on or after October 1, 2022. It will also be easier to apply for the discount because of a new partnership with the Louisville Metro office of Resilience and Community Services (RCS).
Eligibility for MSD’s Emergency Wastewater Rate Assistance Program (EWRAP) is limited to households at or below 150 percent of federal poverty guidelines.
RCS will handle a one stop application process covering both EWRAP and the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). That means applicants will submit documentation only once instead of having to go through separate processes for wastewater discounts and energy assistance.
RCS will also take applications for the MSD Senior Citizen Discount Program. New this year, seniors already receiving the discount must recertify eligibility each year before the anniversary of their previous approval date by filing a new application. The program provides a 30 percent discount for customers age 65 and above with gross household incomes of less than $35,000. Seniors may also continue to apply directly with MSD at louisvillemsd.org/paymybill.
EWRAP is approved for the period of October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023. The MSD Board will decide each year whether to continue the program.
