October 8-16 is Tree Week in Louisville! Trees are one of the best natural tools we have to improve air quality and we're joining in to celebrate them.

This Thursday, October 13 at 6 p.m, the Air Pollution Control District is hosting a Clearing the Air Workshop titled Keep Louisville Leafy: The Impact of Trees and Vegetation on Air Quality.

We'll talk about how trees and other types of vegetation (mainly Kentucky natives) impact our air quality. There will be a Q&A session directly following the presentation, so come ready with your questions! The event will be held virtually and recorded. Use this link to join. (Password: 3aPJmXVEm42)

The APCD's Clearing The Air Workshops give the public an inside look at the APCD and the work that is done to improve the air you breathe. It also provides an opportunity to connect with and ask questions to the professionals tasked with protecting Louisville's air.

Also happening this week, a tree scavenger hunt hosted by the Facebook page for our Grow More Mow Less program! Each day from today through Friday the 14th the page will post a particular native Kentucky tree for followers to find, photograph, and share.

Participants who find and share their own picture of the correct type of tree will be entered to win a swag pack, including a t-shirt, bumper sticker, seed packet, etc., with a new winner drawn daily!

Monday's tree is Red Maple. Follow Grow More, Mow Less on Facebook now and join in!

Throughout the week, people & organizations citywide are celebrating the role trees play in our lives through creative, informative, and fun-filled activities and events. Check out the full schedule
