Councilman Update

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This past week Metro Council did not conduct any meetings, so I do not have much to report out at this time.  This week we are back in stride with Committee meetings and then a full Council meeting next week.

I do expect to vote on an amended ordinance regulating lobbying of Metro Council Members later today in the Government Oversight and Audit committee.  I worked directly with Councilman Hollander who is the lead sponsor of the ordinance to ensure it balances disclosure of lobbying activity with not burdening regular citizens who want to advocate with their elected representatives.  I think this amended version does just that and I will be supporting it.

The public meeting on regarding the Concrete Batch Plant proposed amended design has been moved to the November 3, 2022, at the request of the applicant, no reason was given.  This topic will not be heard prior to 3PM.  The link to the meeting can be found on this website: https://louisvilleky.gov/government/planning-design/upcoming-public-meetings

You will also find below under the Public Meeting section of this newsletter, the information for the upcoming Air Pollution Control Hearing for the Concrete Batch Plant. More information regarding this meeting can also be found at this website: Proposed Actions (APCD) | LouisvilleKY.gov

This past week I got a tour of the workforce development area of the Jefferson County Technical College (JCTC).  It was nothing short of incredible.  They are truly on the cutting edge of training adults into careers and jobs that are needed today in the marketplace.  These careers are increasingly technical in nature and pay very well.  I am very proud of the leadership at JCTC and the work they are doing for the community.

As I mentioned last week, I am attending a more in-depth review of our GVI program tomorrow.  I may not be able to share details of that meeting as much of it is confidential, but I will share my overall thoughts about the current operations of the program as reducing homicides and violent crime must continue to be our top priority in this city.

Humbly Yours,

Anthony Piagentini
