Dreams with Wings Jack O'Lantern stroll returns Friday, October 21!

Enjoy hundreds of beautifully carved pumpkins lining the front of St. Francis of Assisi.

There will be concessions to purchase and trick or treat stations for the kiddos.

Mike Bush and The All Stars will rock out during the evening! They are such a great band and will make the evening fun for all!

We ask for a $5 donation per child to participate in trick or treating. (You can always donate more!)

The Tom Owen CycLOUvia Returns – October 23

Calling all bikes, scooters, skateboards, and pedestrians will once again take over part of Bardstown Road on Sunday, October 23, as the popular Tom Owen CycLOUvia returns.

The event highlights and promotes alternative modes of transportation and is named in honor of former District 8 Councilman Tom Owen, a lifelong advocate for bicycles and pedestrians in our community.

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Bardstown Road from Grinstead Drive to Douglass Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic, with LMPD facilitating motor crossings at Eastern Parkway. All participants are encouraged to socially distance and wear masks amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to keep all participants safe.

During CycLOUvia, streets are opened to people of all ages, abilities, and socio-economic backgrounds looking to improve their mental, physical, and emotional health. Commercial establishments along the Bardstown Road corridor also are encouraged to open their businesses during event hours and to engage with participants.

Bardstown Road/Baxter Avenue Redesign: Paving Update

After much work this summer to implement the permanent features of Bardstown Road/Baxter Avenue redesign, it is finally time for the resurfacing to begin.  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has shared their plans to proceed with nightly closures in the next few weeks to complete the milling and paving process as expeditiously as possible. Please plan according if you typically use Bardstown Road or Baxter Avenue from 8 p.m.-5 a.m. on those days.

Sunday, Oct. 9, through Thursday, Oct. 13: Bardstown Road from Eastern Parkway to Grinstead Drive

• Crews will begin nightly road closures starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.
• The road closure hours are 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.
• Crews anticipate two nights of milling followed by two nights of paving.
• Crews expect the resurfacing will be completed by 5 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14.

Sunday, Oct. 16, through Thursday, Oct. 20: Bardstown Road from Bonnycastle Avenue to Eastern Parkway & Grinstead Drive to Broadway

• Crews will begin nightly lane closures starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16.
• The lane closure hours are 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. The contractor will have roadway flaggers onsite to direct traffic through the work zone.
• Crews anticipate one night of milling followed by one night of paving between Bonnycastle Avenue and Eastern Parkway.
• Crews anticipate working the rest of the week between Grinstead Drive and Broadway.
• Crews expect the resurfacing will be completed by 5 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21.

This schedule is tentative and subject to change due to weather or work delays

Street Sweeping within the Urban Services District is scheduled from March through November, weather permitting. During this period, city street sweeping services are provided to curbed and uncurbed residential streets and to the Central Business District. 

Why is street sweeping important? It helps remove debris from the gutter and roadsides that would otherwise go into storm drains, causing water pollution.
