Neighborhood meeting for a Revised Detailed District Development Plan to allow a 370-unit

We received the following notice on 8/31/2022  at 1:25pm.

Neighborhood meeting for a Revised Detailed District Development Plan to allow a 370-unit

apartment community on approximately 27.5 acres of property located at the second entrance to
Locust Creek at 18501 Shelbyville Road

Dear Neighbor:
We are writing to invite you to a meeting we have scheduled to present neighbors with our Revised Detailed
District Development Plan (RDDDP) to allow a 370-unit apartment community to be located as above.

The site was previously rezoned in 1999 to R-6 for a multifamily development. The density allowed in R-6
zoning is 17.42 units/acre which would allow approximately 480 multifamily units. The RDDDP proposes 370
units in sixteen, 3-story buildings. The development will include one, two, and three bedroom units with state of
the art interior amenities plus a +/- 6000 sf single story clubhouse to include a fitness center, coffee bar,
business center/conference room and a large pool with spa-like amenities. Additionally, there will be a dog
park, pet salon, fire pit with festival seating area, playground and outdoor grilling areas. An RDDDP will be
filed with the Planning and Design Services (PDS) that will be assigned a case number and case manager.
Accordingly, we would like to show and explain this plan so that we might hear what thoughts, issues and
concerns you may have.

In that regard, a meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the First
Baptist Church Eastwood in the Multi-purpose Building located at 16122 Eastwood Cut Off Road,
Louisville, KY. (Park in the upper parking lot via the frontage road that runs in front of the church. Access
the frontage road from either Eastwood Fisherville Road or Eastwood Cut Off Road. Enter the Multipurpose
Building located in the rear of the parking lot through the door located on the left side of the building. Go
down the stairs to the meeting room. Wheelchair access is available through the back door.)

Louisville Metro Animal Services Adoptable Pets of the Week

Cat of the Week:

Adult cat adoptions are always free for approved adopters at LMAS’ Animal House Adoption Center.  Shively is a super sweet, young, and recently retired mom. She got the name Shively from her foster mom because when you pet her, she jacks up her rear end like a Shively truck!  She is quiet, sweet, and likes to play. Shively keeps her litter box very tidy and she was friendly with other cats and dogs in her foster home. Shively’s free adoption also includes a gift. The two-year-old is already spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. To meet or adopt Shively, visit Animal House Adoption Center located at 3516 Newburg Road from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. To view more adoptable cats at LMAS, click here.

Dog of the Week:

Deputy Dawg is ready to lay down the law to a furever family. The message? Must love furever. Deputy Dawg is a two-year-old German Shepherd mix who weighs 67lbs. He’s a shy dog who doesn’t take long to warm up to new people. Deputy Dawg’s adoption fee is waived for an approved adopter, thanks to the Pay It Forward Program. He's already neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Deputy Dawg, who appears to be dog-selective, can be tested with cats or other dogs by request.  For more info about Deputy Dawg, email animalservicesadoption@louisvilleky.gov. To meet or adopt Deputy Dawg visit Animal House (3516 Newburg Rd) from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. To view more adoptable dogs at LMAS, click here.

Dear Case Manager:

We are herewith filing a zone change from R-4 to C-2 and a CUP under section 4.2.35 to allow a self-storage facility on the above referenced property.

The applicant is proposing to build nine, 1-story self-storage buildings with 735 units. The development will also include a 1,600 sf office.
We are in the process of scheduling the neighborhood meeting. Once we have finalized details, we will notify you of same.

We look forward to answering any questions you may have regarding this development.

Many thanks.

BBB September 2022 Hot Topics

BBB September 2022 Hot Topics

  1. In light of the Biden administration’s student loan forgiveness announcement, BBB warns, scammers may try to take advantage of any confusion around the decision. BBB advises consumers to know the terms of their student loans and the relief program, never pay money for a free government program, and beware of out-of-the-blue phone calls, texts, and emails from government agency imposters. For more information, visit bbb.org.
  2. After leaving a comment on a YouTube video, a consumer reported to BBB he received a reply from a scammer impersonating a YouTube personality, claiming he had won a giveaway. The consumer lost money by paying “shipping fees” for the giveaway. Be wary of celebrity impersonators online, as well as any unsolicited messages about giveaways that consumers did not enter.
  3. BBB continues to receive reports from Indiana consumers who have received text messages regarding an Indiana Department of Workforce grant. This is a government imposter scam. Disregard these text messages if you receive them.
  4. Beware of con artists impersonating the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The scammers used the names of real (but retired) officers and tried to trick the local consumer into thinking he missed a court date and owed several thousands of dollars in fines as a result. Luckily the consumer followed up with the actual Jefferson Co. Sheriff’s Office, who was able to confirm this was a scam. Beware of phone calls regarding missed court appearances or other legal matters and contact the government agency or office directly with any questions.
  5. BBB continues to receive reports of puppy scams in the area. When buying a new pet, make sure you see the animal in person first, check the breeder’s credentials and references, and only pay with a secured method such as a credit card. Adopting from an accredited charity is also an excellent way to find your next pet!
  6. BBB has received multiple reports of Powerball text message scams. The texts claim to come from a Powerball jackpot winner looking to share their winnings with random individuals. This is a scam – do not reply to the texts or give out any personal information!
  7. Consumers continue to report receiving fake Publisher’s Clearing House phone calls. The real Publisher’s Clearing House only notifies their winners by mail or in person, not by phone. Any “sweepstakes organization” that asks for money upfront to claim a grand prize is likely a scam.
  8. A consumer reported receiving debt collection calls from a scammer impersonating a real collection agency that was no longer in business. BBB warns, if you receive any suspicious debt collection calls, ask for proof of the debt and the agency. Don’t give in to scare tactics, and don’t give out financial information over the phone.
  9.  BBB has received reports from multiple consumers of an anti-virus confirmation email scam. The email claims to verify the consumer’s purchase of anti-virus software protection and provides information on how to get a refund. In every case, the consumers never purchased the software in question. This is a phishing scam. If you receive a similar email, check your credit card statement or bank account for any purchase, and don’t reply to the email.
  10. Multiple consumers have reported online shopping scams to BBB in the past month, involving everything from jewelry to whiskey. BBB reminds consumers to always check bbb.org for reviews of companies before purchasing items online, and to use a secured form of payment like a credit card when buying.
