Recent legislation, upcoming legislation, bulk drop off and a concrete batch plant update Metro Council conducted our full council meeting this past Thursday and we passed or voted on several items that I would like to highlight:
• We held a TARC appointment and are asking the TARC executive staff to appear before a committee before we approve existing TARC board members. With all the problems at that agency, the only accountability Council can exercise is Board appointments so if we determine that the Board still isn’t properly holding the executive staff accountable, we will consider rejecting the board appointments.
• We amended an ordinance to change how trucks can park in the city to alleviate illegal on-street parking of trucks particularly in residential neighborhoods. We plan on voting on that at the next Council meeting.
• We unanimously passed my ordinance co-sponsored with Councilwoman Cassie Chambers Armstrong that increases the requirements of developers who build in the Floyds Fork Floodplain. The standard for Floyds Fork was lower than all other waterways in the city and we rectified that in this ordinance amendment.
