We have been working hard to finish construction and clean up the space so it is ready to open on September 9th for our very first show, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)!

Your first show is a bunch of Shakespeare? Sounds boring!

Some of you may be thinking "ugh not Shakespeare!" but this is not your high school English class version of Romeo and Juliet. In this hilarious show, three actors attempt to perform ALL of Shakespeare's plays in just 97 minutes! Lovers of Shakespeare will laugh as they recognize the pieces of their beloved plays spliced together, while audience members who aren’t as familiar with the Bard’s work will enjoy the witty banter and slapstick comedy. It is a fast-paced show that will have even the Shakespeare haters roaring with laughter.

THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) was London’s longest-running comedy.

Kentucky State Fair Information

The Kentucky State Fair, as most of you already know, kicked off Thursday, August 18th and will run through the 28th. If you plan on going, keep in mind you can save up to $10 by purchasing tickets in advance here. Of course, there are all sorts of festivities to consider including blue ribbon competitions, concerts, exhibits, carnival rides, and more. August 2022 Hot Topics

1.       A local consumer reported receiving a phone call regarding a Department of Education grant; the call was a scam. BBB warns consumers to be on the lookout for government imposters; any unsolicited messages promoting a government grant are a red flag that you are dealing with a scammer.

2.       A consumer alerted BBB that they’d received a message regarding a COVID-19 grant from a “friend” on Facebook. They soon learned their friend’s account had been hacked and the grant was a scam. BBB warns that this scam is making the rounds, and that any “free” grant requiring the consumer to pay money upfront is a sign of a scam.

3.        BBB continues to receive reports of cryptocurrency scams and wants to remind consumers that if an investment “opportunity” seems too good to be true or promises immediate large returns, it is likely a scam.

4.       A consumer reported an online clothing boutique that failed to deliver the consumer’s order and refused to issue a refund. BBB warns consumers to always review companies before making purchases, and to pay with a secure form of payment such as a credit card in case you need to dispute the charge later.

5.       BBB continues to receive reports of puppy scams in the area. When buying a new pet, make sure you see the animal in person first, check the breeder’s credentials and references, and only pay with a secured method such as a credit card. Adopting from an accredited charity is also an excellent way to find your next pet!

6.       A local consumer reported a fake AT&T survey to BBB. The consumer received a message stating that upon completion of a survey, they would win a smartwatch and only have to pay shipping and handling. The consumer ended up having over $100 deducted from their account. Beware of scam texts promoting surveys or prizes, and never click on links in unsolicited texts.

7.       Consumers continue to report receiving fake Publisher’s Clearing House phone calls. The real Publisher’s Clearing House only notifies their winners by mail, not by phone. Any “sweepstakes organization” that asks for money upfront to claim a grand prize is very likely a scam.

8.       Consumers have reported receiving unsolicited text messages regarding real estate property and/or if they are interested in selling their homes. BBB warns against responding to these texts as they are likely a phishing scam. Homeowners interested in selling their property should instead contact a licensed, reputable real estate agent directly.

9.       BBB warns consumers in the market for a new driveway to watch out for asphalt paving scams. Unscrupulous contractors have tricked homeowners with supposedly good deals, only for the homeowners to end up with shoddy pavement – or nothing at all. Research companies on bbb.org before hiring, get everything in writing, and use secure payment methods.

10.   Planning a party? BBB warns consumers to watch out for party supply rental scams.  Consumers have reported renting items such as tents and furniture and paying a deposit, only for the items to never arrive on the day of their event. Research companies before you rent, and always pay with credit card.
