Bike Louisville Update for Thursday, March 8, 2012

Parkside Bikes Is Moving On Up!
Ben Botkins and his Parkside Bike Shop are moving a few block up Bardstown Road and they're inviting people to stop by and check out the bigger and better location. The Grand re-Opening is Friday, March 9th (that's tomorrow!) from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. It's located at 1377 Bardstown Road, 1 block away from their current location, next to Impellizzeri's pizza. There will be refreshments while they last!
Parkside sells used and vintage bikes and accessories, but is up to giving back too. They sent Bike Louisville a note recently saying, "We have set a lofty goal to donate 100 bikes to Kentucky Refugee Ministries this year and have already began to send bikes over!"

Discover the Loop!
Big Four Bridge marks beginning and end of anticipated 100-mile shared-use path; new signage encourages citizens to explore the Loop!

A Waterfront Park gathering today celebrated the unveiling of the Louisville Loop’s Big Four Bridge trailhead. The site marks the beginning and end of the anticipated 100-mile multi-use path that will connect the city. The Loop’s mile-marker zero is located at the base of the Big Four circular ramp which will soon be a pedestrian and cyclist path across the river.
Members of the volunteer “Loop Watch” were recognized and praised for their work. The group is over 100 members strong and growing, trained to keep eyes and ears on the Loop and report any maintenance or safety issues. Also unveiled at the gathering was a new maintenance vehicle, dedicated solely for use on the Loop to help keep it clean. Maybe Bike Louisville can get the keys to this nice machine to clean the bike lanes!
