AN ENTITLED MOM INSISTS THAT A STRANGER 'SHARE’ HER NINTENDO SWITCH WITH HER CHILD ON A FLIGHT
A woman shared an experience she had with a demanding woman in an online forum about "Entitled Parents" on Reddit. The incident was on board a Southwest Airlines flight. She sits down in her designated seat, buckles her seatbelt and takes her Nintendo Switch video game out of her purse. She hears someone saying, "excuse me, ma'am" repeatedly and realizes someone is trying to get her attention. It is a woman with a small child seated across the aisle from her.
The mom asked the complete stranger, if her toddler son could use her game during the two-hour flight. She was told no, the woman was not comfortable giving her game to a stranger. The entitled mom refused to take no for an answer, and said that her son was not destructive like other kids, and made a "hand it over" motion with her hand. The lady tried again to explain that she wasn't comfortable with this request and that she brought it aboard for her own use.
"The mom angrily asks the stranger her age, to which she replies that her age is irrelevant. Ms. Entitlement responds with, "well, my son is 8 and this is a 2-hour flight and he needs something to keep him occupied!"
The put upon passenger tells her for the third time that she is not comfortable giving her property to a stranger and she just has to accept that. The unreasonable woman becomes livid, raises her voice and says, "are you serious? Well, Bobby, sorry, buddy. Not everyone knows how to share," she says to the kid sitting next to her but loud enough for many other passengers to hear. The kid started whining and kicking the seat in front of him. The mom turns to the lady and has the audacity to say, "thanks for this! A sweet kid just wants to share with you and you're being ignorant about it."
The entitled mom caused such a scene that other passengers began to comment. She was told by another passenger that the woman had told her nicely that she was uncomfortable giving her electronics to a stranger. The mom then began arguing with the other passenger, too.
"She's an adult and she can't share with a child for a few minutes of a nearly 2 hour flight," the irrational woman said. To which she was told that she should have brought something for her child to do during the flight. That finally shut the mom up for the duration of the flight. When the plane landed and the passengers were deplaning, the entitled mom collected her kid and her luggage but had one final thing to say.
"I hope you're happy going against God's word and not sharing with a child."
Several passengers laughed at her comment as she left the plane.
The Nintendo Switch retails for about $300
This entitled mom was bold and very persistent, I will say that for her. How would you have handled this situation if you were minding your business on a plane and were approached in this manner by another passenger?

HERSHEY
From heartbreaking to heartbreaker! This pup's fur was described as matted to "almost drywall level" — so after this grooming session, Hershey got a much-deserved, nice, relaxing bath. Now his big, beautiful eyes are front and center, which definitely helped him land with his paw-some new family.

Coco Gray
Coco Gray is Lisa Franklin Gray's fur baby. She is a 10 year-old Shih Tzu. Ms. Coco is the most well-behaved dog you will ever meet. She loves belly rubs, bacon, Beggin' Strips and Turkey Bites. She snores like an old man and is cuteness personified.

Thank you, Lisa, for allowing the Council Chronicle to feature Coco in the August edition of the Canine Corner. She's such a little cutie.😍
Quick-Fix Meals feature recipes that are hearty, tasty and quickly-prepared. These meals are ready in 30 minutes or less. They are ideal for those days when you come home after a long day at work, hungry and tired. But you want a substantial meal, not just a quick snack.
This shrimp pasta recipe is easy to make with the best big flavors: garlic, lemon, and Parmesan. It’s a home run dinner idea that’s always a hit.
-
1 pound large shrimp, deveined (tail on or off, wild caught preferred)
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1/2 teaspoon each smoked paprika, garlic powder and onion powder
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
White Wine Sauce, recipe below
-
8 ounces spaghetti
-
Finely chopped Italian parsley, to garnish
-
Lemon wedges, to garnish
WHITE WINE SAUCE
INGREDIENTS
-
4 cloves garlic
-
1 shallot (¼ cup finely chopped)
-
4 tablespoon salted butter
-
1 tablespoon flour (or gluten-free flour)
-
½ cup white wine
-
½ cup heavy cream (or milk)
-
¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
-
¼ teaspoon salt
DIRECTIONS
-
If using frozen shrimp, thaw according to the instructions on package.
-
Cook the pasta: Start a pot of well salted water to a boil. Boil the pasta until it is just al dente. Start tasting a few minutes before the package recommends: you want it to be tender but still a little firm on the inside; usually around 7 to 8 minutes. Drain the pasta. (If it finishes before the sauce, add it back to the pot with a drizzle of olive oil so it doesn’t stick.)
-
Cook the shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry. In a medium bowl, mix the shrimp with the spices. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil on medium high heat. Cook the shrimp for 1 to 2 minutes per side until opaque and cooked through, turning them with tongs. Set them aside.
-
Make the sauce: Wipe out the skillet. In the same skillet make the White Wine Sauce.
-
Serve: When the sauce is done, add the pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Then add the shrimp and toss until it’s warmed through. Remove from the heat. Garnish with finely chopped parsley and lemon wedges. Serve immediately. Enjoy.

TRUTH BOMBS are described in the urban dictionary as surprising but true statements. A fact or piece of knowledge that, when told to a listener, is devastating to the listener's argument or world view.
New Yorker Seth Phillips has gained a cult following for his truth bombs that protest anything from loud engines, phones that shatter easily, “x” in espresso, and other very specific, small things that add up to our daily lives. He has a whopping 7.5 million followers on social media. Phillips has gone mainstream enough that the fast fashion giant Zara has capitalized on his popularity by selling "Dude With Sign" shirts in their summer collection.
And, of course, there’s always something new to protest. Such as, hot coffee in summer or verifying you’re not a robot online. The Council Chronicle will now feature these truth bombs in each edition. Those of us who have had enough of everything will get a chuckle out of this series.

REMEMBERING OUR CO-WORKERS, GONE FAR TOO SOON
The following people were employees of the Board of Aldermen or the Metro Council. They were our co-workers, friends and work family. We take the time to remember our former co-workers lives. Even if you never met them, please take a moment to read their name, the position they held in our department and a few things about them. These people worked hard for the people of Louisville and they left an indelible mark on the lives of their loved ones, friends, co-workers, church members and neighbors. They were loved and will be missed. May they rest in Heavenly peace.

She would help anyone in need.
I will always remember Gwen fondly and will forever be grateful for her mentorship, guidance, love and support. She was a Godsend and I mourn her loss tremendously.
