52nd Annual World Championship Dainty Contest 

Congratulations to Bill Ridge, who is the latest World Dainty champion! Bill was able to hit the tricky peg an impressive 112 feet for the win. Ridge is shown below with Dainty emcee John Ronayne of Brewgrass Homebrew Supply.

Fundraisers to help Nathan Green and his family

Wednesday, a group of bike riders raised $2,000 to help Nathan Green with his medical bills and to support his family. 

Green, a manager at Derby City Bike Works, was left on the road in south Louisville after he was hit by a driver June 29 on Poplar Level Road, not far from Gardiner Lane.

Money raised goes to Green's GoFundMe. Upcoming community fundraisers include: 

  • July 29, at the Dundee Tavern, 20 percent of restaurant sales will be donated. Enjoy live music by Celtucky from  6 to 8 p.m.
  • August 7, there will be a Ride For Nathan/Picnic For Nathan at the Louisville Nature Center from 5 to 8:30 p.m. This family-friendly picnic supporting Nathan with hot dogs, beverages and optional bike ride to the event hosted by Bike.Cruise.Brews. 
    Suggested donation is $10 for admission, food and live music by Bluegrass Solution.

Louisville Zoo welcomes Associate Veterinarian

The Louisville Zoo welcomes a new associate veterinarian, Dr. Erica Lipanovich.

Dr. Lipanovich came to the Louisville Zoo from the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where she was the staff veterinarian. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University College in 2004.
