Message From McCraney

m

Hello Neighbors and Friends,

There’s a lot going on in the world today --- global poverty, food scarcity, climate change, high gas prices (due to high refinery profit margins) Russia-Ukraine war (a war that has also contributed to the rise in gasoline prices and one that is siphoning off money from the United States), environmental degradation, and an economic crisis. However, regardless of how bad it appears to be in this moment, I want to pause to pay homage to all fathers in District 7 and around the world.

Apparently, according to research by the Huffington Post, mothers are worth 8 billion more dollars than fathers, at least when it comes to how much money is spent on each parent’s prospective Hallmark card purchases. When it comes to money spent on Mother’s Day versus Father’s Day, Mother’s Day takes the metaphorical cake – leaving fathers with just a handful of leftover crumbs.

If you are a father, please know that we understand how our culture can be tough on you and how much pressure you may be under on any given day. We don’t mean to favor one parent over the other, it’s just how it is, and we hope you don’t take it personally. I’m reminded of a conversation between a doctor and his patient…

Doctor: “You are in terrible shape, and unless something is done immediately, you’re going to die. You’re under too much stress and you’re not eating right. Tell your wife that she must start cooking more nutritious meals. And to help reduce the stress, have her keep the kids off your back so you can relax. Then make a budget and tell her she must stick to it. If she’ll do all this, you should recover completely. Otherwise, you’ll be dead in a month."

Patient: (Obviously shaken) “Doc, would you please call my wife before I get home and give her those instructions?” When the father got home, his wife rushed to him. “I just talked to the doctor,” she wailed. “Honey, he said you only have 30 days to live.”

Finding the courage to keep fighting every day can’t be easy. That’s why I want you to know that you are loved and appreciated. Regardless of the research or what it may seem like from time to time, we really do see the silent sacrifices you make for us every day. The long hours you put in to provide for your family, the obstacles you overcome to protect your family, and the unselfish backseat you take because of your family, show us exactly how noble and loving a dad you are. Thank you for always being there, taking one for the team, and loving your family unconditionally.

Happy Father’s Day!

Notice of Public Hearing

public hearing

TO:  Council Member Paula McCraney, District 7

FROM:  Robert Kirchdorfer

Codes/Regulations

DATE:  June 17, 2022

RE:    Advertisement for a Quota Retail Liquor Package license Bourbon Creek, LLC.

dba/ Bourbon Creek

7900 Shelbyville Rd. Ste. B-05

Above is the information from the Advertisement for an alcoholic beverage license.

KRS 243.360 requires a person to first advertise their intention to apply for alcoholic beverage licenses in the newspaper.

Any person, association, corporation, or body politic may protest the granting of the license(s) by writing the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, 500 Mero Street, 2 NE 33, Frankfort, Ky. 40601, within 30 days of the date of this legal publication.

Some of the reasons for refusal of a license as stated in KRS 243.450 are:

  1. Premise does not comply fully with all alcoholic beverage control statutes and regulations of the board.
  2. applicant or the premises does not comply with all regulations of a city administrator. The applicant has done an act for which a revocation of license would be authorized.
  3. The applicant has made any false material statement in his application.

Other factors include public sentiment in the area, number of licensed outlets in the area, potential for future growth, type of area involved, type of transportation available and financial potential of the area.

The above and below data is being sent to you for your information.  If you have any questions or need additional information regarding this premise, please contact me.

VA Medical Center Update

u

FYI:

  • Blasting is expected to occur between 2-2:30 p.m. daily and continue potentially through Spring 2022.
  • The power lines on the VA property are TEMPORARY. These power lines provide power to the worksite trailers. The VA will be using underground power lines to provide services to the medical facility.
  • Security personnel are now on the site during non-construction hours. Security cameras will be installed on the construction site at some point in the future. The cameras will be placed on the site so that they are facing the construction activity and will not face any private residences near the site.
  • Mechanical rock-breaking is ongoing. This activity involves using a hydraulic hammer that repeatedly hits areas of rock to break them into smaller pieces – allowing them to be removed. This form of rock removal is being used in areas where limited rock removal is required. Noise associated with mechanical rock-breaking sounds similar to that of a jackhammer being used.
  • Pier drilling has also begun. This involves using a mounted drill rig to remove existing earth and core into the bedrock. Reinforcing steel is then placed in the drilled-out area so that concrete can be poured into it to form a solid pier that is anchored to and bears upon the bedrock. This foundation type allows for long-term, stable performance, for the very high structural loading the hospital will have.
  • Earthwork, including the construction of roads/haul routes onsite, installation of stormwater/drainage features, select topsoil removal, and stockpiling of soil onsite are all ongoing.

Concrete is expected to start being delivered next week to be used in the construction of the support piers for structures.
