4804 and 4806 Southside Dr Visioning Meeting - March 26 at 1pm
What can happen with land after it is deemed a brownfield? Join us Saturday, March 26 from 1-4pm at Americana Community Center to discuss what neighbors would like to see the space at 4804 and 4806 Southside Dr become.

 Free Play Event in Iroquois Park - April 7 1-5pm
Olmsted Parks Conservancy will be hosting Free Play events where children are self-directed in interacting with the space, which includes a kid-friendly environment with play materials such as hay bales, cardboard boxes, tarps, rope and more. Free Play helps to develop communication skills, independence, problem solving, creativity, self-esteem, and more. Trained play facilitators will be present to encourage the children, while helping them distinguish healthy risk-taking versus actual dangerous play. Participation is limited to 20-30 kids at any given time.
Free Play will take place April 7 from 1-5 p.m. in Iroquois Park (Sunnyhill playground at the Kenwood Drive entrance near Rundill Road).
Southend Beautification Campaign Tree Planting: April 9th 9am-1pm

Louisville Grows and Brightside need YOU to join our tree planting team! No experience is necessary, everyone is welcome. Trained Louisville Grows Citizen Foresters will be there to lead you in becoming a proper tree planter!
Interested volunteers may register at https://tinyurl.com/PlantSouthend2022. Day of check in and team assignments will begin at 8:30a, there will be a short press conference then planting will begin immediately after. We will also be offering supplies to provide hold Neighborhood Cleanup if you are unable to participate in the actual planting of trees, join in the beautification by helping to pick up litter in the tree planting area. 2:00 – 4:30 PM Explore the artists and businesses and arts that are active in the Iroquois, SouthSide, and Woodlawn Districts by joining the trolley tour.
4:30 – 6:30 PM Purchase dinner and enjoy entertainment at Colonial Gardens, which is the last stop on the trolley tour.
6:30 – 8:00 PM Join Kentucky Shakespeare in Iroquois Park for a free performance of Julius Ceasar (pack a comfortable chair for the show)!

The Jefferson County Conservation District will be holding the 4th Annual Garden Swap on Saturday, April 23rd from 9 am - 12 pm at Wyandotte Park.
This beloved community event is free for all community members and is a great way to help proficient gardeners and novice gardeners alike share resources. You don't have to bring anything to take anything. Gardening should be equitable for all!

Office of Advanced Planning and Sustainability: Cool Roof Incentive Funds
 In order to combat urban heat island, Louisville Metro Government offers an incentive of $1 per square foot to any residential or non-residential property that has installed a certified Cool Roof within the last 3 years. Presently, there is over $80,000 in funding remaining in these targeted districts for this fiscal year. I encourage property owners to apply and reap the benefits of long term energy and cost savings as well as reduced urban heat. Learn more and apply for the Cool Roof Incentive Program. Louisville Metro is seeking bids for property maintenance on vacant buildings and land in Louisville Jefferson County. The work performed is continuous throughout the year, and the objective is to keep Metro- and Landbank-owned real estate safe, secure and accessible. Bids are being accepted in four separate areas of property maintenance: (1) Metro-owned properties, (2) Landbank-owned vacant property maintenance services, (3) Landbank-owned vacant property lawn maintenance, and (4) Landbank-owned vacant property debris removal. Interested applicants may submit bids for one or more areas. Each area requires its own submittal.
