Jefferson County PVA Colleen Younger announced that her office has launched a new tool for motor vehicle owners to appeal online. The website is: www.louisvillevehicleappeals.com. When filling out the appeal motor vehicle owners will be required to provide their name, phone number, mailing address, license plate number, VIN, vehicle year, vehicle make, and vehicle model. Providing a title number and email address are optional. It is up to the owner to substantiate any kind of high mileage, damage or mechanical defect. The appeal tool will allow vehicle owners to upload documents online or bring supporting documentation to their office. State law allows for appeals to the PVA, within 60 days of receiving the notice of renewal. Such notices are typically sent the month before renewal is due, which is the owner’s birth month. vehicle owners can also contact the PVA Motor Vehicle Department at 574-6450.

Motor vehicle owners can call the Motor Vehicle Department at 502-574-6450, email at motorvehicle@jeffersonpva.ky.gov, or access the Online Chat feature daily from 9am-3:30pm at www.jeffersonpva.ky.gov.

Hardwood Forest Drive Project Update

HF
HF2

MAC Construction is actively working on the temporary roadway needed to maintain traffic during the slide repairs on Hardwood Forest Drive.

Crews completed some preparatory work on the slide repair side to allow traffic to be shifted away from the temporary roadway area enough to permit road construction activities.  Attached is a graphic indicating an area that will be single lane traffic during the construction of the temporary roadway.  Once the temporary roadway is completed, traffic will be moved to the temporary roadway and restored to two lanes. Crews can then begin construction of the slide retention system.

Shifting of traffic to the single lane area show in green on the graphic is scheduled to take place later today, Wednesday, March 2. The single lane closest to the slide area will be utilized by traffic for 8-10 days, weather permitting. The traffic signal on site will remain in operation during construction of the temporary roadway. Flagging operations will be used intermittently when large equipment and materials are being delivered to the work site.

During the preparatory activities, the existing roadway pavement deteriorated more quickly than anticipated.  Because of this deterioration, there is approximately a 75-foot-long section with a maximum width of eight feet in the single lane traffic route that will be gravel. Crews will be cleaning up the area and topping the larger stone with smaller dense grade aggregate material prior to shifting traffic later today. Given the short duration of use, MAC Construction does not plan to pave this single lane area.  They plan to quickly complete the temporary roadway and shift traffic to that paved temporary roadway.

Crews will also be shifting/adding additional barrier wall and other traffic control devices to ensure the travel path is clearly delineated & protected.

Motorists are urged to use caution driving through this work zone due and to obey the posted speed limit of 15 MPH.

Pet of the Week

Pawtucket has spent more than 150 days in the shelter and he’s ready for his luck to change.  The approximately two-year-old Pit Bull mix has got plenty of pawsonality and a nose for adventure. Whether you’re hiking or going for a long jog, Pawtucket can keep up! He’s a great co-pilot in the car and is friendly with new people. At home, he loves playing in the back yard with his ball or rope toy. In the evenings, Pawtucket likes to chill out by cuddling with you on the couch. He’s also house and crate trained. Pawtucket’s adoption fee is waived for an approved adopter thanks to the Pay It Forward Program and includes a free dog crate. Pawtucket weighs about 45lbs. He’s already neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. For more info about Pawtucket, email animalservicesadoption@louisvilleky.gov. To meet or adopt Pawtucket, visit Animal House Adoption Center located at 3516 Newburg Road from 12:00-6:00pm daily.
