Free event in Broad Run Park features birding walks, crafts and games on Feb. 19
Louisville, Ky. (February 18, 2022) — Birders of all ages, grab your binoculars! Join Parklands Interpretive Rangers for a morning of birdwatching during the Great Backyard Bird Count on February 19, 2022, in Broad Run Park! Launched in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) was the first online citizen-science project to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real time.
This citizen science event allows people of all ages to begin or continue their journey into birding. Participants can drop in any time between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the Ogle Foundation Woodland Pavilion in Broad Run Park. Activities include four Interpretive Ranger-led birding walks, a bird-guide craft, migration game and free hot cocoa! Bird walks depart from the Woodland Pavilion at the following times:
- 7:30 a.m.
- 8:15 a.m.
- 9 a.m. (bird walk on paved Lowland Plain Trail; wheelchair and stroller-friendly)
- 9:45 a.m.
On each bird walk, Interpretive Rangers will keep track of bird counts using the Cornell Lab of Ornithology eBird app. At the end of the day, The Parklands will tally up all bird counts and add them to the GBBC. This event is free and open to all. Registration is not required. Dress warmly for this all-outdoor program.
GBBC Golden Eye Competition In the name of citizen science, The Parklands of Floyds Fork and the Louisville Nature Center have challenged each other to a Great Backyard Bird Count duel! This friendly competition will determine who can count the most bird species inside their area during the days of the GBBC February 18-21. The winner will take home a coveted pair of golden binoculars. Help your favorite outdoor retreat win the golden binoculars by attending an event hosted by The Parklands or Louisville Nature Center. If you are unable to attend scheduled events, you can still participate by birding at either location on your own February 18-21 and turning in your own e-bird checklist (The Parklands 2022 count area is limited to Broad Run Park).

(Louisville,KY) Jefferson County PVA Colleen Younger announced today that her office has launched a new tool for motor vehicle owners to appeal online. The website is: www.louisvillevehicleappeals.com.
When filling out the appeal motor vehicle owners will be required to provide their name, phone number, mailing address, license plate number, VIN, vehicle year, vehicle make, and vehicle model.
Providing a title number and email address are optional. It is up to the owner to substantiate any kind of high mileage, damage or mechanical defect. The appeal tool will allow vehicle owners to upload documents online or bring supporting documentation to their office. State law allows for appeals to the PVA, within 60 days of receiving the notice of renewal. Such notices are typically sent the month before renewal is due, which is the owner’s birth month. vehicle owners can also contact the PVA Motor Vehicle Department at 574-6450.
Due to supply chain shortages, another impact of Covid 19, used car values have increased substantially.
