Project Warm in Louisville is a weatherization organization. We help people feel more comfortable in their homes by providing free weatherization services to people who are disabled, elderly and low-income.
Services are very beneficial by lowering energy bills, increasing energy efficiency of the home, and creating a more comfortable home for the summer and the winter. Residents of some Louisville areas can now order FREE, rapid, at-home COVID-19 testing kits while supplies last.
It’s part of a program called Say Yes! COVID Test offered in partnership with the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, the CDC, and the National Institutes of Health. You conduct the tests yourself at home with quick swipes inside the nose, and results display privately in just 10 minutes. Residents age 2 and over, whether they are vaccinated or not, can receive a pack of 8 tests to use twice a week until they run out. Frequent testing, combined with vaccination, wearing a mask, hand washing, and physical distancing, can help to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Recycling Cart Update
Anyone within our waste collection service area knows that we have been rolling out new recycling carts since June 2021. Here’s the latest information about how it’s going:
Online Free Cart Request Form is closed. To help mitigate the waste container audit errors, we allowed residents to fill out a form requesting a free recycling cart if they believed they were missed during the first round of deliveries. This form was closed on September 10 at 5pm. Requests for recycling carts must now go through Metro311.
Second round of deliveries complete. On August 6, a new delivery list was created using submissions from the online Free Cart Request Form. Using this list, our contractor delivered about 2500 carts between August 9 and September 6.
A list for third round of deliveries is being compiled. Anyone who filled out the online Free Cart Request Form or submitted a request to Metro311 after August 6 will be added to a new delivery list that will be fulfilled by Metro staff and/or our contractor. These deliveries have not yet begun, and the exact timeline is to be determined. Please note, not all form submissions qualified for the grant-funded recycling cart.
We will continue to collect recycling from the small bins until January 1, 2022. Our goal is for each participating household to have a recycling cart (orange-lidded purchased previously or blue-lidded received recently) by this time. This goal depends greatly on cart inventory. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue this process.

KY Driver's License Changes
Gov. Andy Beshear announced the opening of a third Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Driver Licensing Regional Office in Jefferson County, at 4919 Dixie Highway Suite A, formerly was a branch location of the Jefferson County Office of Circuit Court Clerk. KYTC is taking over the office as part of its phased adoption of driver licensing services for all of Kentucky.
Online renewal launched
On June 14, KYTC launched their new online platform for drivers to renew current standard licenses and REAL IDs via the web (as long as the driver’s name or address hasn't changed). Visit https://dlrenewal.ky.gov/
KYTC Regional Offices
Drivers now can visit ANY KYTC Driver Licensing Regional Office, regardless of where they live. For a list of all KYTC Regional Offices across the Commonwealth, visit https://drive.ky.gov/Driver-Licensing/Pages/Regional-Offices.aspx.
Mail-in renewal option to end

MetroSWAP - A Safe Zone for Online Sellers
Did you just sell an item online and need a place to meet to complete the transaction? Marketplace, Craig's List, and all other online sellers, if you are looking for a public place to exchange your items, look no further than in the parking lot of a police station. Do you share custody of a child and are looking for somewhere to exchange custody? Again, a great place to consider is at a MetroSWAP Zone.
The Louisville Metro Police Department is providing MetroSWAP Zones around the city. These areas are located outside of some of our Divisions. There is 24 hour video surveillance.
Tips for using MetroSWAP:
- Agree to meet the person ONLY at a MetroSWAP station.
- Meet only during daylight hours.
- Tell someone you trust where you are meeting and at what time.
- Meet in the parking lot. There will be two (2) designated parking spots at each location for use.
- Make this interaction brief and to the point.

Be informed about crimes with LMPD's crime mapping website
The Louisville Metro Police Department uses a Crime Mapping website to display crime on a map in Jefferson County. Zoom in to see crimes in an area, or put an address in the address bar at top left to search. You may sign up for auto email alerts for crime around an address. Reports are made available to the public after a process of internal review, often in the same day as the report taken. Due to the nature of some crimes, reports are made available to public upon the completion of a thorough investigation and will be made available as soon as practical.

Please call the LMPD non-emergency number, instead of sending an email, if you're seeing suspicious activity in your neighborhood. Sending emails to LMPD delays response, and officers need to be dispatched for the activity. These citations continue the nuisance abatement process.
