COVID Booster
Gov. Andy Beshear signed an executive order that qualifies every person 18 years old or older and living or working in the commonwealth to get a COVID-19 vaccination booster six months after their second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines, or two months after a single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
The Governor said Kentucky was seeing declines in COVID-19 case numbers and the test positivity rate for many weeks, but recently those numbers have begun to plateau or even slightly increase.
As of Wed., Nov. 17, more than 437,000 Kentuckians had received a booster.
Environmental Justice, Childcare and Early Learning
Louisville Metro Government’s Accelerator Team today issued two Requests for Information (RFI) proposals for Environmental Justice, and for Childcare and Early Learning initiatives, outlined in August as among the top priorities for American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding.
Environmental Justice
This RFI seeks comments and ideas on potential environmental justice projects targeted toward disadvantaged individuals or populations disproportionately impacted by the economic consequences of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Project services must be focused in qualified census tracts (QCTs).
RFIs for Environmental Justice will be accepted until 5:00p.m. on Tuesday Dec. 7, 2021.
Childcare and Early Learning
This RFI is seeking information from organizations, community advocates and subject matter experts with experience successfully managing childcare projects. The goal is developing childcare and early learning projects to promote healthy childhood environments and enable families to rejoin the workforce. Projects should be targeted toward populations that have been disproportionately impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Project services must be focused in qualified census tracts (QCTs).
RFIs for Childcare and Early Learning initiatives will be accepted until 5:00p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021.

Keep Kentucky Moving Safely
As Kentuckians soak in the final views of falling leaves, state transportation crews are on the lookout for the first sight of snow to spring into action. Nearly 2,100 Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) staff have been preparing for months for the snow and ice season when winter weather strikes.
Over 300,000 tons of salt, 1 million gallons of brine for anti-icing efforts and, for deicing, 875,000 gallons of calcium chloride have been stockpiled for this Winter.
Safe roadways are a shared responsibility. KYTC encourages motorists to prepare for winter and remain safe by following these tips:
- Travel only as necessary during major snow events.
- Winterize vehicles. Have your car battery, tire pressure and brakes checked.
- Make sure your heater, defroster, headlights and windshield wipers are working properly.
- When snow and/or ice are on roadways, drive slowly no matter what type of vehicle you’re in.
- Pay attention to weather advisories and allow more time to travel for routine commutes.
- Slow down when approaching intersections, off-ramps, bridges or shaded areas.
- Maintain a safe distance from, and do not pass, snowplows and other heavy highway equipment.
- Know before you go. Download the free WAZE app or visit goky.ky.gov to check traffic conditions before you travel.
- Eliminate distractions while driving (e.g. using phone and eating).
- Stock vehicles with:
- ice scrapers, jumper cables, blankets, a flashlight, cell phone charger, non-perishable snacks and first aid kits.
Visit snowky.ky.gov for snow and ice resources, like priority route maps, tips and highway district updates.
