The Louisville/Jefferson County Landbank Authority is taking new steps to improve equitable access to Landbank properties by conducting a racial equity review of how its programs operate.
On Oct. 18, the Landbank Authority Board held a special meeting to discuss the racial equity review, which will be completed in multiple phases, and to approve an initial set of recommendations around improving data collection related to Landbank properties and gathering input from neighboring residents of Landbank properties, buyers, contractors, and occupants of Landbank properties. This process will continue into Spring 2022.

Louisville Metro is seeking licensed, qualified residential contractors to perform rehabilitation services on vacant houses as part of the Louisville/Jefferson County Landbank Authority’s My Louisville Home project. The project is designed to improve homeownership rates in Louisville’s western neighborhoods by performing rehabilitation services on Landbank-owned properties, facilitating a sale directly from the Landbank to an owner-occupant. Project houses have likely been vacant and abandoned for many years and are expected to need exterior, interior, and sometimes structural rehabilitation. Click here to submit qualifications. Close date for submissions is November 9 at 3:00 p.m.

The Adjacent Side Yard program is where property owners who live next door to a Landbank Authority-owned vacant lot may purchase it for $1.
The Cut it, Keep it program is for property owners on the same block as the Landbank -owned lot.
The New Construction program is for buyers that want to purchase a Landbank-owned lot that have detailed plans for development.
The board approved 2 sales under these programs this month, including one for the property picture above at 2211 W. Market St.

The Save the Structure program buyers must have proof of funds for renovation.
The Demo for Deed program buyers must have proof of funds for demolition. Properties under both programs may be purchased for $1.

Solicitations of Interest (SOI) are issued at times when the Landbank acquires property that has the potential for larger-scale redevelopment. Proposals are submitted and reviewed to find the most feasible project to benefit the community.

- 2230 Buechel Avenue, a/k/a 4129 Bardstown Road (Launch Date - November 15, 2021)

The Landbank Authority Board approved a property at 19th and Congress streets for sale to The Property Group, owner of The Palm Room. The Landbank Authority had issued an SOI earlier this year seeking someone to redevelop the property.
Improvements are well under way and are due to be completed soon. Upon completion, this location will have a finished parking lot, as well as a small structure that will be utilized by The Palm Room.

Giddot Properties, LLC and Ladder Truck 33 Incorporated acquired 1007-1015 and 1019 Dixie Hwy in the California neighborhood under a SOI-Budget Rate Policy for New Construction. The plan is to construct a facility for motion picture and video post-production processes with an estimated completion date of December 2023. |

REBOUND, Inc. recently acquired multiple addresses in the California neighborhood along the Dixie Highway and Prentice Street intersection. REBOUND, Inc. plans to construct several townhomes to be sold to owner-occupants. The estimated date of completion is July 2023. |
