Reminder: District 11 FREE paper document shredding this Saturday!

Shred Truck

I am happy to announce that I have scheduled two shredding events for 2021.  Like last year, this will be a no contact event so residents can remain in their vehicle while volunteers remove documents needing shredding from your trunk or rear seat.  Our contracted business, All-Shred, is also committed to taking the necessary precautions to keeping everyone safe by wearing masks and gloves while collecting the materials to be shredded. Your confidential documents will be shredded onsite and then taken to a recycling facility. There is no limit to the number of personal documents that you may bring; however, no businesses are allowed. Both events will be held at Hunsinger Lane Baptist Church, 3400 Summerfield Dr.

The dates are:

  • Saturday, August 21st, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Blackacre announces Sunday Night Sunset Music Series starts September 12th

Blackacre State Nature Preserve & Historic Homestead is pleased to announce the Sunday Night Sunset Music Series returns September 12th and runs through October 3rd.  Each week there will be a different style of music featured, including country, classical, bluegrass and jug band music.  Dennis Craig, the Executive Director said, “What makes our event extra special, is visitors come with chairs and blankets and can safely spread out on our shaded lawn by the horse pasture. The 1792 Appalachian style barn serves as a backdrop to the performing group.

Dennis says, “We are so proud to be partnering with Mory and Colliersmith, PLLC who value the importance of giving back to the community and providing a cultural experience at Blackacre.”

The events are as follows:

September 12th   - Gracie Yates, a young country singer/songwriter from Central Kentucky performs. She has become a popular fixture of the regional music scene. Her original song, “Boys Like You” has been played world-wide and picked up by CMT.
