As part of Louisville Water’s Southwest Jefferson County Main Extension Project it was necessary to close Greenwood Road, at the intersection of Lucille Lane, on Monday July 12. The work in the intersection is expected to be complete, and the road re-opened, no later than Monday, July 26.

Louisville Metro Council’s Budget Committee has released a schedule for an initial committee meeting and public hearings on Louisville’s use of American Rescue Plan Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery (“ARP”) Funds. Louisville Metro is receiving $388 million and more than $340 Million has yet to be appropriated.
Metro Council wants to hear from experts and the public about the use of the funds, according to Budget Chair Bill Hollander. “Louisville and other cities and counties across the country can make meaningful and long-lasting change with ARP funds. We want to understand the permissible uses, hear from the public about community needs and make wise funding decisions,” Hollander said.
Budget Vice Chair Kevin Kramer said “We have an opportunity to have a major impact for several generations, it is important that we be very deliberate in determining the best use of these funds. Taking time to understand all of the possible uses, and carefully selecting those areas where we can bring about lasting change is the most pressing issue as we move forward.”
In the next two weeks, the committee will have three hearings across the community to take public comments about the use of ARP funds. Speakers may sign up before the start of each meeting to speak for a maximum of five minutes. The meeting schedule is:

The Louisville Zoo is inviting guests to travel back 65 to 200 million years in time to visit their newest prehistoric animal ambassadors – 19 life-sized robotic dinosaurs in “Dino Quest” presented by Great Clips. From Saturday, June 26, until Sunday, Sept. 19, Zoo guests can experience the world’s largest, most lifelike robotic dinosaur exhibit, free with admission to the Zoo.
Guests will encounter 19 roaring, breathing giants from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods of history. They will have the opportunity to view the world’s tallest life-sized, robotic dinosaurs, ranging from 5-foot-long baby triceratops to a 40-foot-long Tyrannosaurus rex.

The Louisville Zoo’s annual Toyota Backyard Action Hero Guidebook is now available online for students, educators and families looking for ways to learn about animals and conservation.
This year’s guidebook is different as it is available in different versions, offering a simpler mobile version and a special interactive desktop version that includes an interactive glossary, matching games, and other fun virtual elements and activities.

At the Waste Reduction Center, Louisville/Jefferson County residents can dispose of tires, household bulky waste such as metals, appliances, electronics, tree limbs and stumps up to three feet in diameter, unbagged yard waste, construction debris, and furniture.
