Kentucky ranked 21st among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. In the latest week coronavirus cases in the United States increased 4% from the week before, with 83,096 cases reported. With 1.34% of the country's population, Kentucky had 1.26% of the country's cases in the last week. Across the country, 23 states had more cases in the latest week than they did in the week before.
Kentucky reported no cases or deaths the weekend of Juneteenth after reporting some the previous weekend. This will shift those cases and deaths into the following week, making week-to-week comparisons inaccurate.

Adding the most new cases overall were Jefferson County, with 183 cases; Pike County, with 81 cases; and Hopkins County, with 60. Weekly case counts rose in 55 counties from the previous week.
