COUNCILMAN

Peace. Hopefully you're able to enjoy the sunshine we've been having. I'll be canvassing more frequently on weekends so hopefully we can meet soon. This summer we'd like to schedule activities around the district. To help us organize please take this 3-question survey. If there are multiple people in your household feel free to have each person fill it out.

Legislation

  1. Safety Zone Ordinance — We passed it. Thank you for your advocacy.
  2. Historically Black Neighborhoods Ordinance — We're in the process of making a displacement assessment to look at rent increase estimates, property value increases estimates, and affordability. This will go along with our ordinance to keep people from being forced out of their neighborhoods. If you have ideas for what should go in it let us know.
  3. Homeless Protection Ordinance — Another amendment was filed before ours that we're fighting in the Public Safety Committee. It takes away protections for our houseless population. In the meantime, we have an upcoming meeting with outreach groups to create funding proposals for new, short-term housing ideas.
  4. Cathedral Commons Forgiveness Ordinance — This affordable housing project in Downtown Louisville has requested to have a $500,000 loan forgiven or risk foreclosure. We have sponsored this ordinance to support keeping the 40 residents here housed. To see the ordinance go here.
  5. Crown Act Ordinance — A group of students grades 5-11 made a pitch at Justice Fest over the weekend to pass legislation banning discrimination of natural hair. I've already contacted a county attorney to draft the ordinance. The 'Young Prodigy's' will be invited to perform their song "Crown" for Metro Council when we vote.

All of our sponsored legislation can be viewed here.
