The Jefferson County PVA have mailed out reassessment notices. In addition to the mailed post cards, individual property valuations and other information are also available at the PVA website, www.JeffersonPVA.ky.gov.

If you choose to appeal your property’s assessed valuation, you have until May 17 to begin the process. That is a strict deadline. Appeal conferences will take place virtually or over the phone, due to COVID-19 restrictions. 

If you appeal, you will be asked to provide documentation, including photos of your property or sales of similar properties supporting your appeal. Interior photos are particularly important if you are contending that your property valuation should be lower because of the condition of your property. The PVA has no way of viewing a property’s interior or knowing the condition of it, and successful appeals are often supported by evidence of interior conditions. 

You should also consider applying for exemptions if you are disabled or own a residential property and are over 65 years old. More information on those exemptions and how to qualify are on the PVA’s website.

Louisville Metro Public Works crews announce the official launch of the city’s annual Pothole Blitz. Last year, Public Works crews filled 40,000 potholes. The Mayor asks people to assist their efforts by reporting potholes they encounter through 311, online, or on Twitter using #502pothole.

The federal and state government control what vaccine Metro receives, how much, when they get it and who gets it first. Metro is working through the Vaccine Implementation Task Force to plan and ensure an efficient and equitable distribution of the vaccine. Metro's community Vaccine Communications Task Force has also been meeting to collaborate on collective ways to provide support in alleviating fears, sharing accurate, timely and easy to understand information across the community that will include instructions on where and how to get vaccinated. The Court Eviction Diversion Program is made possible because of a partnership with the Legal Aid Society.

LG&E is ready to help our customers and, as previously communicated, we are notifying customers with past due balances prior to disconnects resuming and doing the following: 

• Reminding customers of resources and assistance programs that may be available in their community. More information is available on our website.
• Helping customers manage their bill by providing options that allow customers to choose a payment plan for their past due balance that best meets their needs - extend their payment a few days or spread the amount evenly over 6 or 12 months.

Customers are encouraged to use our convenient self-service options which includes our new mobile app, online My Account, automated phone system.  For those customers who need further assistance, they can contact a customer representative.

In addition, our business offices are open to assist customers and are following CDC, state and federal COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. 

• Customers will need to ensure they pay their current bill amount, and any installment amounts by the due date each month to avoid disconnection of service.
• Customers can refer to their disconnection notices for information on options to avoid disconnection

Metro COVID-19 Relief funds are available now for Jefferson County residents with a past due Louisville Water/MSD account. Customers can apply for the credit at the Metro Relief Portal on our website or call 502.583.6610. The one-time credit is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply now -- don't delay!

To qualify for a credit up to $500, customers must meet the following criteria: 

• Live in Jefferson County and have a Louisville Water/MSD residential account 
• Have an unpaid balance on their water/wastewater bill that occurred between March 16 and December 31, 2020 
• Identify a COVID-19 based financial hardship that resulted in the past-due balance

JCPS School Meals - Schedule

• Beginning Saturday, April 10 , curbside meal service will move to Saturdays from 10 a.m. -1 p.m. at the following sites, and continuing through May 22, with the exception of Derby Day, on May 1. In lieu of that, sites will be open Oaks Day, Friday, April 30. 
• Finally, while this is NOT a JCPS program, the American Rescue Plan Act has extended P-EBT payments for free/reduced price meal eligible families to purchase meals they would have otherwise receive at school. That federal program will be administered by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

The scholarship, which launched Oct. 1, allows eligible students in the Class of 2021 to begin postsecondary studies tuition-free at any Kentucky Community and Technical College school, including Jefferson Community and Technical College, or Simmons College of Kentucky to pursue an associate degree or career credential, or take 60 hours of credit. The Evolve502 scholarship is a last dollar scholarship, meaning Evolve502 will fund the difference between federal and state financial aid and college tuition.

The application takes about five minutes to complete online at evolve502.org/scholarship. Once applications are submitted and reviewed, applicants will receive a follow-up email with next steps including completing the federal financial aid form and applying to eligible colleges.
