The 1.3-mile stretch of Southern Parkway (KY-1020) between 3rd Street/Oakdale Avenue and Woodlawn Avenue/Kenwood Way is scheduled to be milled and paved in May 2021. Therefore, new striping will be required along this section. Instead of restriping this section in the same configuration, Louisville Metro Government and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have proposed striping this section in a new configuration. Several meetings are scheduled to discuss the configuration with neighbors and discuss the safety enhancements to the roadway.

"A deal reached Monday would reduce Louisville Gas & Electric and Kentucky Utilities' proposed rate hike by about a third and prevent the utilities from implementing another price increase until July 1, 2025. The settlement announced by Attorney General Daniel Cameron's office still must be approved by the Kentucky Public Service Commission, but it has been agreed to by the utilities and all the other entities involved in the dispute, including Louisville and Lexington metro governments and consumer, environmental and housing groups. The deal is a "reasonable compromise" reached after two days of negotiations conducted Thursday and Friday, LG&E chief financial officer Kent Blake said in a document filed Monday with the commission."

The scholarship, which launched Oct. 1, allows eligible students in the Class of 2021 to begin postsecondary studies tuition-free at any Kentucky Community and Technical College school, including Jefferson Community and Technical College, or Simmons College of Kentucky to pursue an associate degree or career credential, or take 60 hours of credit. The Evolve502 scholarship is a last dollar scholarship, meaning Evolve502 will fund the difference between federal and state financial aid and college tuition.
The application takes about five minutes to complete online at evolve502.org/scholarship. Once applications are submitted and reviewed, applicants will receive a follow-up email with next steps including completing the federal financial aid form and applying to eligible colleges.
In addition to the scholarship, Evolve502 is offering opportunity grants to support students whose families earn less than $40,000 annually. The opportunity grants are $1,000 per semester ($2,000 maximum per year) and can be used to assist in costs outside of tuition including healthcare, transportation, books and more. The grants will automatically be given to Evolve502 Scholarship recipients who meet qualifications. The deadline to apply is June 30.
