Council Members Bill Hollander (D-9) and Cassie Chambers Armstrong (D-8) will host a virtual town hall for the public to learn more about the budget process. The event will feature several panelists to answer questions about how the city currently spends its tax dollars.

A Louisville resident thought he called Metro Animal Control, but instead got a message telling him that they charged $99, and instructed him to leave his credit card number on the telephone answering machine. A Metro Council office contacted Adam Hamilton from Metro Animal Control, and received the following message from him:
We don’t charge but there is a company that has popped up that calls themselves Louisville Animal Control and their phone number is one off of our number. We have been receiving a lot of complaints about charging people but it is that company. If you want to, let your constituents know to call Metro Animal Services at 473-7387 or email us at animals@louisvilleky.gov. The only time we will ask someone to pay is if they are surrendering their own pet.

The Metro Council’s Community Affairs, Health, and Education Committee’s 19th Annual Black History Program honors an outstanding group focused on providing opportunities to minority youth, the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals; and, its work with Aerospace Career Education “ACE” Academy at Shawnee High School.
Founded in 1976, the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of minorities in all aviation and aerospace careers. OBAP members encourage diversity in the industry by supporting aspiring aviation professionals through Project Aerospace, a series of scholarships, mentoring, training, and youth-focused education programs.
In Louisville, numerous UPS Airline employees involved with OBAP have worked with the Aerospace Career Education “ACE” Academy at Shawnee High School for almost 30 years. UPS employees have put great effort into helping youth in the community discover an interest in the aviation industry. The group has had a major impact on minority students and their education by showing opportunity in the aviation and aerospace fields, resulting in some past alumni working and flying for UPS.
“UPS is proud to have so many UPS employees involved with OBAP and the “ACE” Academy at Shawnee High School,” said Capt. Houston Mills, Vice President of UPS Airlines Flight Operations & Safety. “Building a diverse pipeline with future aviators is critical to not only UPS, but the entire aviation industry as a whole and these volunteers should be celebrated for their efforts.”
