 Most of us know District 13 resident Mo Hasecic. from his very successful food truck. He has now opened a permanent location at 5600 National Turnpike.  Their extensive menu and great service is well worth a visit. 

LIHEAP Crisis Component will run through March 31, or until available funds have been expended, whichever comes first. This year’s Crisis Program will allow residents receiving a current utility bill with a past due amount and residents receiving a disconnect notice to apply for assistance. To apply, residents must schedule an appointment utilizing the automated appointment system. Appointments can be scheduled by phone by calling 502-991-8391 or online at louisvilleky.cascheduler.com. The toll-free service is currently open and is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Applicants must be a resident of Jefferson County with a household income at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines (e.g. for a household of four, the gross monthly income cannot exceed $3,275.00).  Applicants must also meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

• Received a disconnect notice from LG&E, or
• Received a current bill with a past due amount, or
• Have a current payment plan with LG&E due to a past-due balance, or 
• Received an eviction notice if utilities are included in the rent, or
• Be within four days of running out of bulk fuel; or
• Be within ten days of running out of pre-paid electric service.

The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness is offering free radon test kits while the supply lasts. You can request a kit by calling 502-574-6650. The test kits come with an instruction sheet and postage to send back to the lab for it to be analyzed free of charge. The only way to know a building has radon and if you’re being exposed is to test. Radon is an odorless, colorless and tasteless chemical radioactive gas. It forms naturally when uranium, radium and thorium break down in rocks, soil and groundwater. Radon attaches to dust or tobacco smoke and gets carried into the lungs. Prolonged exposure to radon can lead to lung cancer. People can be exposed to radon primarily from breathing radon in air that comes in through cracks and gaps in homes and other buildings.

Canary would be a great wing man because he has a friendly, happy personality. The one-year-old got his name because he sounds sounds like a bird, when he whines for attention – and he loves attention! Canary would make an excellent companion for someone who’s active. He loves to play and would benefit from daily walks or running around the back yard. Canary’s adoption fee is waived thanks to the Pay It Forward Program. He’s already neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Canary weighs about 48lbs. He would do best in a home with adults or teenagers but can also be tested with other dogs and cats by request.
