Updates on COVID-19 vaccine
From the Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness COVID-19 Vaccination Team:
Phase 1B continues, including nonmedical first responders such as police and fire; corrections workers, education – grades K-12 as well as pre-K educators located in a school, and people 70 and older.
If you are a nonmedical first responder, work in corrections or education (K-12), your appointment will be scheduled through your employer. You do not need to take any additional action.
At today's press conference at Broadbent Arena, the LouVax site, Dr. Sarah Moyer, Chief Health Strategist, Department of Health and Wellness, said that the demand for vaccination appointments for people age 70 and older, was about 10 times that of the supply.
She added that Metro is working with healthcare partners Norton, Baptist and UofL, to improve the process for those over 70 seeking the vaccine.
Dr. Moyer recommended that everyone sign up to receive COVID-19 related alerts here: https://louisvilleky.gov/government/louisville-covid-19-resource-center/covid-19-vaccine-information |
