Dear neighbor,
As we celebrate the holidays at home this year, it is safe to say we are all hopeful that 2021 will be brighter and more prosperous. For too many who have lost loved ones during this unprecedented time, we know those better days can't come soon enough. Our family knows too well the uncertainty a deadly virus can bring.
Even as city services continue to move slowly and many in our community continue to heal, we will do what we can to be of service to you and your family as we all navigate the roads ahead.
Please watch out for each other and keep your neighbors safe when you can.
From our home to yours, we are wishing you a peaceful and Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year,
Brent T. Ackerson 26th District Councilman
Starting Saturday, December 26, drop-off sites will be available for all Louisville/Jefferson County residents at four locations. The Hubbards Lane site will also instantly recycle Christmas trees into mulch that will be offered back to citizens for home use. Those wishing to receive mulch must bring an appropriate container in which to carry it. All lights and ornaments should be removed from trees before they are dropped off or set out for collection. Christmas tree vendors may recycle their unsold trees on Saturday, December 26 only, and only at the Hubbards Lane site.

Residents with City curbside yard waste pickup may set their Christmas trees and greenery out on their regular collection day. Trees must not be in plastic bags, and all decorations must be removed.
Residents normally serviced by private waste haulers should check with those companies to see whether and when tree pickup is available.

Regular yard waste collection within the Urban Services District will be suspended for the winter after January 16.
As a budget-cutting move, and to reduce the number of trucks operating in low-demand months, Louisville Metro Solid Waste Management will be suspending the curbside collection of yard waste in the Urban Service District after Saturday, January 16. Yard waste collection resumes during the week of Monday, April 5. While individuals may request collection as needed during this time through MetroCall at 574-5000, please plan to set out your yard waste – INCLUDING CHRISTMAS TREES – by Jan.16.
