Who should get tested for COVID-19?

Anyone who has symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, headache, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting or diarrhea, sore throat, congestion or runny nose. Contact your healthcare provider about scheduling a test.

Testing for people who do not have symptoms (asymptomatic) including:
- Persons without symptoms who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive. Consider getting tested during your 14 day quarantine if you do not develop symptoms.
- Healthcare facility workers, workers in congregate living settings, and first responders without symptoms.
- Residents in long-term care facilities or other congregate living settings, including prisons and shelters, without symptoms
- People without symptoms who have been in large gatherings where social distancing was difficult and you do not know if you were in close contact with a positive case.
- For all testing please follow instructions to call ahead or pre-register for the testing site.

At this time, all LIHEAP offices are closed to foot traffic. Clients will be served remotely by scheduling an appointment and providing materials through “Drop Boxes”. Applications will be accepted from July 1st through October 30th or until funding has been depleted.

After scheduling an appointment, drop off all required documentation in a secure drop box on the day of your appointment, anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.; or 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Please submit copies, if possible.
Fill out the Family Profile Forms and the Remote Processing Forms that are provided at the drop box or found online at www.louisvilleky.gov/LIHEAP. Place the forms and your documentation in an envelope and drop into the secure drop box at the site you selected when making your appointment. Please label the envelope“LIHEAP”. You will not need to wait at the site, a LIHEAP staff member will call you to process your application.
You will be contacted within 72 hours (3 business days) of your appointment time. The workers will make arrangements to return original documents if necessary.

Required Documentation:
- Proof of all household income for the prior month (Ex. Food Stamp award letter, Social Security Award Letter, pay stuns, etc. or other proof of $0 income)
- Social Security Card(s) (or official documentation with Social Security Numbers) or Permanent Residence card(Green Card) for each member of the household
- Your most current electric bill, OR statement from your landlord if electric expenses are included in your rent.

Southwest Community Ministries is currently overwhelmed with families who have never needed assistance before but are running out of household and hygiene products! They are asking for help from members of the community, youth groups, or anyone willing to donate.
If you would prefer to give food donations, items such as ravioli, ramen, fruit cups, canned meats, soups, and peanut butter crackers are always good options. Things like Ensure and pull top lids are good for seniors as well!

At the Waste Reduction Center, Louisville/Jefferson County residents can dispose of tires, household bulky waste such as metals, appliances, electronics, tree limbs and stumps up to three feet in diameter, unbagged yard waste, construction debris, and furniture.
Hours of Operation
Tuesday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Appointments available Tuesday - Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Up to three household bulky items per day may be dropped off at no charge. Bulky loads or drop-offs exceeding three items will be charged according to the fee schedule - CASH ONLY.

- Up to 4 passenger tires*
- One appliance
- One large household item such as mattress, box spring, sofa or chair
*No more than 4 tires will be accepted for free drop-off at one time regardless of the number of other items
