Speeding is is one of the top concerns I hear on a daily basis from residents of District 18. As you may have heard, my office has purchased one portable radar machine for LMPD to use in our district, with another one on the way. These have been a big help to our officers who continually rotate them around the area.
I have also recently used District 18 funds to purchase 6 of these new permanent radar devices that will be installed on some of our busiest streets throughout the district. Be on the lookout over the next few months as these new radar devices are installed in various areas of District 18.
Please slow down and take your time. It's not worth the risk of injuring someone else or yourself just to save a few minutes.

At yesterday’s Public Safety Committee, committee members voted (3-3) on Resolution (R-110-2020) seeking a no confidence vote on Mayor Fischer’s leadership. The resolution will go before the full Metro Council for final action at the Thursday, September 17 Council Meeting (meeting begins at 6:00 PM).
As a co-sponsor of this legislation and a member of the Public Safety Committee, I voted in favor of the resolution. I continue to hear from many of you who support this resolution on a daily basis, and who share my desire for our city to finally begin the process of moving forward.
I have always believed that taking care of our infrastructure is one of the core functions of your local government. I spend virtually every dollar of District 18's discretionary funding on paving roads and improving sidewalks, as well as other capital items such as the radar machines I mentioned above.
Below is a listing of some of the roads that will be paved during the current fiscal year ending July 1, 2021. I work to get as many roads done as possible in District 18 each year, and have fought to increase the Mayor's city-wide paving budget from a paltry $2 million a year to $20 million. Keep in mind, these projects can be completed anytime between now and end of the current fiscal year. The specific timing is subject to many factors that are out of our control.
