 Stonestreet Road from Dixie Highway to Valley College Drive is scheduled to be paved by Louisville Metro Public Works the week of August 24th & 31st, 2020.
Originally this year's budget scheduled this section of road to be paved in fiscal year 2022 (July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022). Councilman Yates fought for additional funding to ensure the worst rated portion of Stonestreet was paved this fiscal year.
Stonestreet Road from Valley College Drive to 3rd Street Road will be paved next fiscal year.
Next week's paving is subject to change due to weather and/or operational factors.

 U of L Health will offer free coronavirus testing in South Louisville beginning this week.
Anyone can make appointments at one of the three sites:
- Downtown at the corner of Brook and Liberty streets
- U of L Health Mary and Elizabeth Hospital
- U of L Health in Bullitt County
Smith also said getting results back quickly will be key, and he expects a 2-3 day turnaround time at these sites. He said the hope is to have up to 1,000 tests per day available at these locations.

 Recently, there was an event in the news where someone was killed who might have been meeting to complete a transaction from an online marketplace such as Craigslist, Ebay, Facebook, Nextdoor, ect.

These areas are specifically set up for people to make buying and selling transactions. They are marked parking spaces located outside some of our LMPD Divisions, including the 7th Division at the Central Government Center located at 7201 Outer Loop. These areas are under 24 hour video surveillance with LMPD close by so they can quickly respond if needed.

The Louisville Free Public Library is pleased to announce that the Main Library will be open for in-person computer access by appointment starting Monday, August 17 and the Southwest, South Central, and Northeast regionals starting Tuesday, August 18. The browsing of books and other materials will not be permitted at this time.
Computer access is by appointment only and restricted to 90 minutes per day. Limited free printing and faxing services will also be available by appointment. In order to reopen safely to in-person visits, the Library has reconfigured furniture, computer stations, and equipment to ensure safe physical distancing can be maintained. Applicants must have a business located within Louisville/Jefferson County. At least 50 percent of the funds will be spent in low-to-moderate income census tracts.

Purpose of the Fund
The Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grants program is designed to help prevent business closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to preserve the hundreds of fun and funky businesses that make Louisville unique.
Grant Program Funding
Louisville Metro Government’s FY21 operating budget includes up to $21 million in federal CARES funding for Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grants.
Amount of Grants
The program will provide eligible businesses with grants up to $50,000 based on demonstrated impact from COVID-19.
Eligible Business Criteria
Businesses meeting the following criteria will be eligible for a grant:
- Businesses with 20 full-time employees or fewer as of March 16, 2020
- Non-retail businesses with 50 full-time employees or fewer that have remained closed or whose business activity have been severely restricted under state executive order dated March 25, 2020
- Businesses that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
- Businesses must be located in Louisville/Jefferson County
- Businesses must be in good standing with Louisville Metro Revenue Commission
Industries of focus include retail (including direct services), food service, arts & entertainment, recreation, and childcare.
Grant Use
The funds may only be used for the following business expenses:
- Payroll
- Utilities
- Lease/mortgage assistance
- Fixed cost support – to include debt service (interest only), business insurance, other fixed costs
- Technology for online platform to allow online sales

Eviction Prevention Assistance for households
How to apply:
Jefferson County residents who meet the below eligibility requirements can call an automated scheduler at 502-977-6636 or visit online at EvictionPRevention.itfrontdesk.com.
Eligibility:
- Jefferson County residency
- Must have a pending court eviction, or a past due notice from landlord
- Household income up to 80% AMI (Area Median Income) within the previous 30 days (see more details here.)
- The assistance is necessary to avoid eviction
- Reasonable prospect that the household will be able to resume payments within a reasonable period of time
- Households facing COVID-related delinquencies
The Mayor also noted that landlords of federal, state or locally subsidized multi-family or single family units (i.e., LIHTC, CDBG, HOME Louisville Affordable Housing Trust Fund, Louisville CARES or to tenants that receive Section 8) may also apply on behalf of multiple tenants, which streamlines the application process by eliminating the need for income verification. This portion of the program is administered by Louisville Metro Office of Housing, part of Develop Louisville.

To be eligible, the landlord must:
- Be currently registered on the Rental Registry.
- Have no outstanding code violations for the property for which rent is being paid.
- Waive all late fees, fines, and penalties.
- Forgo evictions for assisted tenants for 60 days after assistance is provided.
- Provide pre-COVID-19 rent rolls to document delinquency rates before and after the pandemic.
Also today, the Mayor extended thanks to members of the Louisville’s Eviction Prevention Task Force, a collaboration of stakeholders representing the public, private and nonprofit sectors working to reduce Louisville’s eviction rate. The Task force recently launched a website called StopMyEviction.org that has a multitude of eviction prevention resources and services in one location.

- Rental assistance and resources for tenants who are behind on their rent
- Help coordinating assistance when facing an eviction
- Support from a Task Force coordinator who will review requests on an online form and respond within 48 hours
The Legal Aid Society, part of the Eviction Prevention Task Force, provides legal assistance to tenants facing eviction in order to prevent homelessness. Who should get tested for COVID-19?
HIGH PRIORITY
- Hospitalized patients with symptoms
- Healthcare facility workers, workers in congregate living settings, and first responders with symptoms
- Residents in long-term care facilities or other congregate living settings, including prisons and shelters, with symptoms
PRIORITY
- Persons with symptoms of potential COVID-19 infection, including: fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting or diarrhea, and/or sore throat.
- Persons without symptoms who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive
- People without symptoms who have been in large gatherings where social distancing was difficult

 Work continues to connect the final technology pieces of the New Dixie Highway project. Fiber-optic cable installation started in June and is progressing on schedule.
Once fiber connectivity is in place, new hardware for traffic signals will go live to realize the full vision of the safer, more efficient roadway. New controllers work with an Intelligent Transportation System for quick movement of TARC buses on the corridor. Digital screens at bus shelters along Dixie Highway will be turned on to give real-time information to riders. The high-tech pylons will be operational later this year.
