Dear California/Victory Park Advisory Group and residents,

Thank you all for the extensive time you have put into completing the California/Victory Park Neighborhood Plan. The next steps for the plan are:

• Present plan to Planning Committee of the Planning Commision
• Planning Committee holds a cursory review to ensure the neighborhood plan is ready for public hearing at the Planning Commission. Public comments are welcome at Planning Committee
• Present plan to full Planning Commission
• Planning Commission is the official public hearing for the neighborhood plan. Planning Commission will recommend approval or denial of the neighborhood plan to Metro Council. Public comments and testimony are welcome at the Planning Commission
• Present plan to Metro Council Planning and Zoning Committee
• Metro Council Committee reviews the recommendation of the Planning Commission. The Committee votes n approval or denial of the plan, which then goes to the full Metro Council. There are no public comments or testimony at the Metro Council Committee.
• Full Metro Council vote on plan
• Metro Councils votes to legislatively approve or deny the plan. If approved, the plan’s executive summary becomes an amendment to Plan 2040 (Louisville Metro’s Comprehensive Plan) and the plan becomes a legislatively approved document.

JCPS Urging Families to Update Contact Information

Up-to-date email and phone numbers ensure families receive important information

July 29, 2020 – Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) is urging families to verify that their contact information is up-to-date, and that they are registered to receive text messages from JCPS as the district prepares for the start of Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI). 

Up-to-date email addresses and phone numbers will be important for families who need to request a Chromebook and/or hotspot for the upcoming school year.  Communication from a student’s school and teachers also requires a valid email or phone number.

With job changes and work from home scenarios, existing email addresses may no longer be valid and need updating. For families currently receiving district and school emails and text messages, no action is needed at this time. 

To ensure parents and guardians are receiving information from JCPS, they are encouraged to take the following steps:

To make sure you receive text messages, simply opt in to School Messenger by texting Y to 67587.  You MUST opt in to this system to receive text messages.  Even if JCPS has your correct phone number on file, you won’t receive text messages if you haven’t opted in to School Messenger.

To receive emails from the district and your child’s school, you must have your current email address in our JCPS system.  Information can be updated in the Parent Portal. If you do not have a Parent Portal login, you can set up an account here.

If you have an existing account, go to Parent Portal and click “Log on to the Parent Portal.” 

1. Choose Campus Parent   
2. Enter log in credentials (user name and password)

2. Click Family Information
3. Click Update (correct your information then click ‘Update’ again) 

Families who have previously “unsubscribed” to emails from JCPS, or reported the emails as spam, will not receive future emails.   

JCPS’ first day is scheduled for August 25th.

Dog of the Week:

Spend the remaining dogs’ days of summer bonding with your new forever companion. Adopt a sweet shelter pet like Bubbles, her adoption fee is waived for an approved adopter, thanks to the Pay It Forward Program. The approximately 1-year-old Boxer/Labrador Retriever mix’s sweet, affectionate personality makes her a keeper. This laidback lady loves to cuddle and be held. Need a walking buddy?  Bubble’s love strolls in the park, especially if she gets to play her favorite game, spot-a-squirrel.  Meeting new people is fun, too. Bubbles pawfect day would end with her favorite treats, a hot dog and ice cream! Her adoption includes spay surgery, vaccinations and a microchip. Bubbles weighs 56lbs. She needs to be the only dog in her forever home; child and cat testing are available by request. Bubbles is already housetrained and crate trained. No appointment is necessary to adopt or meet Bubbles. Visit Animal House Adoption Center, located at 3516 Newburg Road, open daily from 12-6pm.
