On May 27, 2020 Mayor Fischer and I announced the creation of the Civilian Review Board Work Group to research, debate and recommend the best structure for a Civilian Review Board that would add a new layer of independent review to Louisville Metro Police Department policies and disciplinary matters. The overarching purpose of the Civilian Review Board is to investigate police shooting cases, incidents involving loss of life due to police action, abuse of authority, excessive use of force, and in-custody deaths.
The Work Group has met twice and produced a summary report of work to date. To review the summary report and get involved by sharing your thoughts and recommendations on the formation of a Civilian Review Board.
