Dear Neighbor,

Despite all the changes to our lives over the past weeks and months, we still have a Primary Election scheduled for June 23rd. As many of you know, voting has been opened to receiving and returning ballots by U.S. Mail, dropping your mailed absentee ballot off between now and Election Day, and in-person early voting at the Election Center on Ormsby Avenue and in-person early and Election Day voting at the Kentucky Expo Center. Approach the Expo Center from either Crittenden Drive or Preston Highway since the entrance on Phillips Lane is closed.

Notably absent this year is in-person voting at your polling place on Election Day. Please keep that in mind Tuesday, June 23rd if you do go to vote. Every voter in Jefferson County votes in-person at the KY Expo Center. To avoid the lines, you may want to consider voting at the Expo Center from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm tomorrow or Monday.  But, please remember to vote!

Be aware that even if you requested an absentee ballot you CAN STILL VOTE IN PERSON if you have not received or returned your ballot by mail. Go to the Expo Center on Phillips Lane and they will straighten everything out.

Additionally, if you received a ballot with an incorrect middle initial on the mailing label, that ballot is still valid and you can return it by mail, drop off location, and in-person at the Expo Center. Your legal name is correct and encoded on the barcode used to validate and track your ballot.

Please direct any questions to the Jefferson County Elections Center. (502) 574-6100

Please stay safe and Happy Voting,

BrentSignature

Klondike Lane Paving Next Week

We were informed this week that Klondike Lane from Hikes Lane to Six Mile Lane is scheduled to have sections rebuilt and both lanes repaved next week. This work will take most of the work week and could be delayed. Please be patient with our city workers and contractors as they complete this work we have all anticipated for several years. From Public Works:

We will be completing base failures on Klondike Ln for a good portion of the eastern lane between Klonway Dr and Hikes Ln.  In addition to this, along this same area, portions of yards where they meet the roadway will be regraded to allow water to flow from the roadway into the ditch as intended.  Once complete, the entire roadway will be milled and repaved.  It should be expected that this work will take a full calendar week to complete and possibly longer pending any weather or equipment delays.

TARC Offers Fare-Free “Ride to Vote” Service on Election Day

TARC

On Election Day, June 23rd, TARC will provide shuttle service from Union Station, 1000 W Broadway, to voting polls at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

This fare-free shuttle service will run every 30 minutes, beginning at 6 a.m. from Union Station and ending at 6:30 p.m. from the Expo Center.

Routes 10 (Dixie BRT), 23, and the 99 all have direct stops at Union Station. “Union Station is a great, central location to offer this service,” said Laura Douglas, TARC Co-Executive Director. “Positioned in the heart of downtown, it serves as the best point of access for high-ridership routes.”

“Having reliable access to voting polls on Election Day is important,” said Margaret Handmaker, TARC Co-Executive Director. “We are more than happy to help our community exercise their right to vote.”

TARC would like to remind all passengers that due to COVID-19 restrictions in place, ridership on ALL TARC BUSES—including the Election Day shuttle service—still require face coverings to ride, and passengers to exit via the rear door.

Clense Clinic Accepting New Patients

Cleanse Clinic can help you or a loved one beat addition. They specialize in both intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and medication assisted treatments (MAT) at four Ky locations.

Outpatient treatment is currently offered at three of our four Kentucky locations during either morning or evening sessions.

This allows patients to fit treatment into their lives around employment, school, and transportation needs.

Patients referred into our outpatient program are not required to participate in our medication program, however the option is available. Upon completion of the programs, all clients participate in an exit interview with our board-certified psychiatrist and medical director. During the exit interview, clients can choose to continue treatment through counseling and medication assistance.

Throughout the course of the patient’s time with Cleanse Clinic, they will be required to provide urine samples for ongoing monitoring and accountability. These samples are tested at the time of visit with urine dipstick, before being analyzed in our in-office lab for toxicology and confirmation. The use of our own lab allows us to have results back quickly, guaranteeing individual treatment plans can be monitored and updated frequently. This helps us hold our patients accountable and give them stability. Patients that continue treatment with our clinic and show that they are stable have the chance to move to biweekly and then monthly follow up appointments. To be eligible for this, the patient must maintain frequent monthly counseling and must show ongoing abstinence from all illicit substances and alcohol use. Treatment in the Cleanse Clinic could be used as an alternative to provide more stability, accountability, and positive change to the lives of your clients.
