Christmas tree drop-off will also include leaves this year. Drop-off sites will be available for all Louisville/Jefferson County residents at four locations. The Hubbards Lane site will also instantly recycle Christmas trees in to mulch that will be offered back to citizens for home use. Those wishing to receive mulch must bring an appropriate container in which to carry it. All lights and ornaments should be removed from trees before they are set out or dropped off.

Residents may also drop off loose leaves. Containers used to bring leaves to the drop-off sites must be disposed of off-site by residents.

Louisville Metro Government (LMG) will begin accepting External Agency Fund applications on Jan. 17 for fiscal year 2021. These grants funded through the city’s general fund are awarded to non-governmental agencies that contribute to the city's cultural, social and economic vitality.

All agencies wishing to apply are required to have at least one representative participate in a mandatory application orientation on Jan. 17. The orientation will provide information about deadlines, how to access the application and other general information. There will be a morning session held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and an afternoon session held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Both sessions will take place at Metro United Way, 334 E. Broadway, Louisville

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) begins Jan. 6 and runs through March 31, or until available funds have been expended.

To apply, residents must schedule an appointment utilizing the automated appointment system. Beginning Dec. 30, 2019, appointments can be scheduled by phone by calling 502-991-8391 or online at louisvilleky.cascheduler.com. The toll-free service is currently open and is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Parents of Addicted Loved ones is a support group of parents helping parents. They meet every week on Sundays. Our primary goal is to provide hope through education and support, at no charge, for parents dealing with addicted loved ones.

VITA Tax Assistance program has been offering free tax preparation to individuals and families under a certain income bracket in our community for years. This organization depends on volunteers to help prepare taxes and greet clients. We hope you’ll consider joining the team!

National Processing Center (NPC) is the U.S. Census Bureau's primary center for mail processing, survey processing, data capture, imaging/scanning and warehouse operations. Louisville Parks and Recreation annual golf passes are now on sale at the Joe Creason Park administration building (1297 Trevilian Way.)  A seven-day unlimited play pass, good for unlimited play including weekends and holidays after noon, is $500. A five-day pass, Monday-Friday only, is $350. Junior, team, and golf cart discount passes are also for sale through the golf desk at Creason, located in the parks administration building across from the Louisville Zoo. Michelle Amos is the Director of Programming and Education for the Little Loomhouse. She holds her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Louisville in fiber construction. She has shown in over 50 exhibitions and has been awarded the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft Artist Residency. She has years of experience teaching with a focus on community art and special populations.

Workshops:

• Mon 01/06: Fiber & Spinning Workshop - learn how fiber is spun into yarn. Participants will card wool, finger spin a small amount of wool, and make bracelets to take home. This program is appropriate for ages 5 years to adults.
• Mon 01/13: Weaving in the Round Workshop - learn the art of Weaving in the Round. Participants will design and weave their own piece to take home. This program is appropriate for ages 5 years to adults.
• Mon 01/27: Tapestry weaving workshop - learn the art of Tapestry weaving on a lap loom. Participants will design and weave their own piece to take home. This program is appropriate for ages 7 years to adults.

Under the ordinance, LMAS will maintain the Animal Abuse Registry, updating it at least once every 30 days. Anyone convicted of animal abuse outside of Jefferson County must register within 10 days of establishing residency. Failure to register or comply with the registry could result in a maximum 60 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
