Kira, FEMALE CAT
Shy Kira is finished nursing her kittens and has left foster to find a permanent home. The gorgeous gray cat is approximately 1-years-old and weighs about 7lbs. Kira likes to hide in small spaces until she’s feeling brave and safe enough to explore her new surroundings. A fur sibling to keep her company would be nice but she’s ok being the only cat in her home. Kira’s adoption fee is waived thanks to the Pay It Forward Program. To adopt Kira, visit Animal House Adoption Center, located at 3516 Newburg Road, Tuesday-Sunday 12-6pm. For more info, call 502-473-PETS.

Metro Animal Services announces the opening of a new, state-of-the-art Animal Care Facility at 3516 Newburg Road on Monday, October 21, 2019. The facility will replace the outdated Manslick Road facility and put all animal-related services on one campus where you can: adopt a pet, purchase or renew a pet license, or take a stray pet. The 33-thousand square foot facility can house 235 animals. A modern veterinary wing includes the shelter’s first X-ray and Ultrasound machines. There’s also behavioral, enrichment and grooming rooms which the old facility lacked. A better future for shelter pets begins with a better LMAS. Now you can visit Animal House Adoption Center 7 days a week to adopt a shelter pet! For more info and new business hours, visit www.louisvilleky.gov/animalservices, or call 502-473-PETS.

We encourage all residents to take part in the spring 2019 Brightside & Passport Health Plan Fall Community-Wide Cleanup on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The event is a great service opportunity for boy/girl scouts, sports teams, faith groups and community organizations. Cleanups are an integral part of Brightside's mission and without the help of volunteer groups, and many other volunteers throughout the year, Brightside could not achieve their goals of a cleaner, greener Louisville.
Neighborhoods can hold their own cleanups at any point throughout the year and Brightside can provide gloves and bags for each Neighborhood Cleanup. They will work with Solid Waste Management to have the collected litter bags picked up.
Give them a call at (502) 574-2613 or register online about two weeks prior to your event to schedule your cleanup and for information about getting supplies.
