We launched the first "Imagine Mural Festival" in Smoketown with a fantastic collaboration of artists supported by Fund for the Arts, Louisville Metro, and LVA. The plan is to host an Imagine Mural Festival in a different neighborhood each year and watch our community be transformed!

LaQuita Washington stopped by Fishes and Loaves to break bread with the artists launching the festival.

Sarah Lindgren from Metro Commission on Public Art shared a smile with Braylyn Stewart, one of our local muralists.

Downtown streets were bustling with smiles and happy folks on a beautiful Fall afternoon. Cherish the good times!

5

700 GE Appliance Park employees scattered across eleven locations in our Historic Russell Neighborhood to clean, landscape, rebuild broken items, install benches, create gardens, and much more! Y'all are simply amazing!

Jackie Floyd was seen everywhere throughout Russell as the GE Team rolled up their sleeves and got the job done. Featured here is one of several new benches installed in the Russel Garden.

10

Medora and Mike Safai saw their vision become reality as the crowd entered their newly renovated 63,000 square foot Logan Street Market. Step inside and experience something Louisville has never seen.

Chef Madeleine Dee must be imaging that next amazing dinner solution or yummy appetizer. YES - she cooks in dangling pearl earrings and high heels!

Chip Rogalinski's proud mother and two children joined the celebration.

11

YES - you can shop for groceries or grab a bite to eat whilst you are at Logan Street Market. Some like to sip and shop!

Gourmet spices beyond your wildest imagination!

Full service bar available to stop by and visit.

Fresh seafood like never before waits for you.

olmstead

Are you the kind of park visitor who enjoys taking the path less traveled? Olmsted Parks Conservancy is in the middle of a trail study to learn how we can better control soil erosion and improve our natural trails in Cherokee, Iroquois and Seneca – making the escape into nature better for both the park and the visitor. We want to know, how do you use the natural trails? Whether you run, hike, bike, or walk your dog on the trails in our Olmsted Parks, you can help us with our study by filling out this 15 minute survey:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OlmstedParksTrails

Applications for Urban Seasonal High Tunnels

hgih tunnel

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service is once again taking applications for seasonal high tunnels (hoop houses) that work towards extending the growing season for gardeners and vegetable producers. These metal-framed plastic-covered growing areas allow producers to plant early - like February - and extend their growing seasons well into winter. Applications taken now are for the 2020 growing season.

If you had a high tunnel crop in place in February, you are probably already eating freshly grown fruits and vegetables and worked through the cool rainy season in the comfort of the “indoors”. To find out how you can qualify for this program, coupled with the Jefferson County Conservation District, contact Kurt Mason, Urban Conservationist for Kentucky at (859) 490-0113 or kurt.mason@ky.usda.gov Qualified applicants can be individuals, groups, non-profits, churches and community organizations. To find out more about this opportunity and how it is within your reach, contact the phone number above. Through the partnership of USDA, Jefferson County Conservation District and additional funding, Jefferson County residents will have very little of their own dollars committed to healthy growing! Don’t wait because the process takes some time to apply and the deadline is coming up in November. Start your application now!
