Proposed ordinance to improve upon the regulations of itinerant vendors, peddlers and solicitors voted down in committee
Tuesday, the Louisville Metro Council Public Works Committee voted down a proposed ordinance that would impact food trucks.
Among its changes, the ordinance would have allowed the directors of Codes and Regulations, Metro Parks, or Public Works to limit or restrict vending in certain locations for health and safety reasons.
It would also have capped the number of parking spots that could be reserved for food trucks based on the number of parking meters.
Voted down by 4-3, the ordinance now moves to the council's old business with a recommendation for denial.
No trash or recycling pickup Labor Day
Typically on holidays, trash and recycling pickup has been delayed by one day, but because of budget cuts, residents will have to wait longer for their trash and recycling to be picked up. The budget cuts were implemented on July 1, and the new policy takes effect on the upcoming Labor Day holiday.
People whose trash or recycling pickup days fall on the actual holiday won't get service at all that week. Those residents will have to wait until the next normal pickup day before the city picks up the garbage.
Residents who rely on private haulers for garbage, recycling and yard waste collection should consult those haulers about holiday collection schedules.

Yard waste collection delayed
Solid Waste Management Services reports that due to equipment shortages, yard waste collection is behind schedule this week and will be until additional equipment is available. Residents should set out yard waste on the usual day at the usual time, though collection may be one to two days behind schedule.
