Look Who's Pictured in District 4!

1

DO/LOVE/LIVE Brewing in Butchertown unveiled exciting plans for a new brewery, outdoor beer gardens, and a continued focus on helping others.

Andy Blieden, Pete Charboneau, Jessica Loving, Lou City, and Councilwoman Sexton Smith were on hand to "cut the ribbon" as Mayor Fischer and Councilwoman Sexton Smith shattered beer bottles with hops across the building!

2

Family, friends, and surrounding business owners joined the fun and welcomed our new business to Butchertown.

Founder and owner of Red Hot Roasters welcomes you to stop by her shop the next time you're near Butchertown.

3

Councilwoman can be seen any day on many sidewalks asking folks how they are and what they need.

Mark Meriweather was so excited to tell us he opened Impeccable Cleaning Service after the Councilwoman encouraged him to follow his dream.

4

Come on by any of our Fresh Stop Markets and check out the great options and how you can sign up for fresh food products all summer long and beyond.

5

As you can see, everyone is happy to pick up their Fresh Stop goodies at First Unitarian Church on South 4th Street.

You're never too young to start eating healthful food and tasting new creations. Free samples were awesome.

6

Many friends gathered to wish Jennifer Adrio a happy farewell as she embarks on her new journey to San Francisco to lead their American Red Cross chapter.

We love you, Jennifer.

Bon Voyage!

7

WLOU 8th annual Prayer Breakfast was a huge success with hundreds of folks in attendance at the new Russell Vision Development Center, located at 2208 West Jefferson St.

Todd Dunn, President of Greater Louisville Central Labor Council, was in the house and all smiles.

This is a must-see space encouraging you to host your next event here.

Call Bill Price at WLOU for details.

8

State Representative Charles Booker and DeVone Holt were glad to see each other as Representative Booker took the podium and delivered a powerful message.

Rev. Dianne Brown brought us home with an inspirational message we needed to hear.

10

The Western Library annual Block Party was a huge success with free books, great advice, and outstanding tacos.

Ramiro's Tacos were gobbled up and we hope he brings his food truck next year.

11

Luther Brown, Al Mortenson, Jackie Floyd, Joann Orr, Natalie Woods, and Wanda Mitchell-Smith gathered at the block party to show support for the library and the beautiful historic Russell Neighborhood.

12

One Love Louisville, Vision Russell, and the Louisville Dental Society were on hand with great giveaways

13

Luke Whitehead, former UofL basketball player created tons of excitement when he gave away bags of basketballs.

14

Jecorey 1200 Arthur delighted children of all ages as he brought the spirit of the drum and filled the air with excitement.

15

Many of you have heard Councilwoman Sexton Smith tell the story of the West Louisville Boys and Girls Choirs. Pictured here is Mr. and Mrs. Cormac Parker Jr. along with Tenoramentae Young, two of the longest standing members of the choir.

She met Cormac when he was 8 years old and she met Tenoramentae when he was 19. Both young men thank you and everyone in Louisville who believed in them when they were too young to understand the beautiful life before them if they decided to make it so. They performed during worship service at Burnett Avenue Baptist Church on June 23rd.

Meet our family!

16

These are the railroad tracks underneath the overpass on Poplar Level Rd. near the Watterson Expressway where the Councilwoman grew up between Camp Taylor and Newburg.

She couldn't resist hopping out of the car and standing on the tracks she crossed over so many times as a child on her way to the bowling alley.

17

The newly formed Meriweather Fort Hill Neighborhood Association hosted their first family-friendly fun event in Preston Park located next door to Isaac Shelby elementary school.

As you can see from the photos, everyone had a great time celebrating fun, fellowship, and free food for all.

18

The guys showed up to play corn hole, moms brought their children, and one little girl painted the handmade park bench.

Check out your neighborhood association, attend meetings, and get involved.

Friends in New York City saw this photo online of Councilwoman Sexton Smith taken during the Pride Parade in Louisville and wanted to make sure everyone saw it.

Meet Roosevelt, the District 4 mascot who goes almost everywhere with the Councilwoman. He is a Native American Baby Black Bear. Look up the story about President Theodore Roosevelt giving permission to a shop owner to name the cuddly stuffed bear sitting in the shop window "Teddy."

President Roosevelt was known as the compassionate president.
