 Two Louisville non-profit organizations have launched a new website to help connect people in need of food, shelter, and more. Metro United Way and the Family Scholar House partnered to create LouieConnect, modeling a similar site created in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. When someone uses LouieConnect, the web-based app asks for basic information and then lists applicable resources nearby — from food pantries to shelters, and to career centers to financial literacy programs.

In mid-June, Metro311 is launching a whole new online reporting system and mobile app that makes it much easier to report issues online or on your phone, lets you see issues that have already been reported on a map, and improves how you track progress of your issue along the way.

The current Metro311 Service Request Portal and the 311 mobile app will be offline from Wednesday, June 12 at 7 p.m. until Tuesday, June 18 at 8 p.m. as we prepare to launch our new and improved business & 311 portals.
After June 18, there will be a new mobile app for reporting issues to 311. The link to download the app will be available on the Metro311 website. We appreciate your patience during our transition. During our outage period you can reach us in the following ways:

With the help of local partners, Papa John’s donation of $90,000 through The Papa John’s Foundation for Building Community, along with the $5,000 donation from the Jamon Brown Foundation and a matching $5,000 donation from the Atlanta Falcons, funding will be available this summer for pool operations, including lifeguards. The alternative plan includes 10 community swim events at two YMCA of Greater Louisville locations, structured swims at Central High School’s pool, and daily community swim sessions at The Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center – along with transportation options for those who otherwise would have trouble getting to the pools.

‘Happy Eid!’ The Holy Month of Ramadan Ends
Provided a new moon is seen, sundown Monday marks Eid al-Fitr, which ends the period dedicated to personal growth through dawn-to-dusk fasting. Some 1.8 billion Muslims the world over celebrate with huge feasts, family gatherings and charitable acts.
Holy Month
For Muslims, Ramadan is the month in which the first verses of the Quran, Islam's holy book, were revealed to Prophet Muhammad more than 1,400 years ago.
During the holy month, Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and sex from dawn to sunset. The fast is intended to bring the faithful closer to God and to remind them of the sufferings of the less fortunate.
Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, along with the Muslim declaration of faith, daily prayer, charity and performing the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
In Muslim-majority countries, offices are required by law to reduce working hours, and many restaurants are closed during the daylight hours.
"Ramadan Mubarak" and "Ramadan Kareem" are common greetings exchanged in this period, wishing the recipient a blessed and generous month respectively.
Last year, fasting hours across the world ranged from 10 to 21 hours.
At the end of Ramadan, Muslims celebrate the Eid al-Fitr holiday. Eid al-Fitr in Arabic means "festival of breaking the fast".
Depending on the actual start date of Ramadan and the new moon sighting on the 29th night of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr this year is likely to fall on June 4.

Our Mission
Honor Flight Bluegrass mission is:

To locate and identify eligible veterans to visit their respective war memorials located in Washington, DC.

To provide each veteran with the opportunity to receive the accolades for service from a grateful nation to a Hero’s Welcome Home.
What We Do
Honor Flight Bluegrass, is an Honor Flight Network Chapter based in Louisville, Kentucky, and is recognized as a 501(C)(3), all-volunteer, non-profit organization created to honor America’s WWII, Korean, and Vietnam veterans for all their sacrifices.
We fly our heroes to Washington, DC and provide them with a first class, VIP, Police escorted tour to each of their respective memorials to honor their service, sacrifices and create the greatest memory of a lifetime.
Top priority is given to those Veterans from any war or conflict that have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Subsequent priorities are given to World War II, Korean, and Vietnam War Veterans.
