FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Final Metro Council Budget Committee Public Hearing Monday, May 20

Louisville – The final opportunity for members of the public to comment to Metro Council’s Budget Committee on Mayor Greg Fischer’s proposed 2019 -2020 Capital and Operating Budgets is this Monday, May 20, beginning at 6:00 pm.

The Committee has been reviewing the proposal since it was unveiled on April 25 and will continue the review throughout the months of May and June. The Metro Council extended the budget review process by an extra month beginning in 2017, in order to hear from the public and thoroughly review and discuss the needs of each department and agency of Metro Government.

The May 20 public hearing follows two previous opportunities for the public to comment, which drew about forty individuals, including many representatives of External Agency Fund applicants. On May 20, no External Agency Fund applicants will be permitted to speak, and the committee hopes to hear from the public about more general aspects of the budget.

Sign-up sheets for three-minute speaking slots at the May 20 meeting will be available one hour prior to the public hearing in the First Floor Conference Room of City Hall, 601 West Jefferson Street.

All Metro Council Committee meetings are carried live on Metro TV, Spectrum Cable Channel 184 and UVERSE Channel 99. The meetings are also available online at the Metro Council home page at http://louisvilleky.gov/government/metro-council/metro-council-clerk by clicking on the “Watch Meetings Online” button.
