Join me for a Town Hall Meeting at Magazine Street Seventh Day Adventist Church on Tuesday, March 12th at 6:30 p.m.

At the request of Pastor George Thornton from the Magazine Street Seventh Day Adventist Church, I will participate in a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the Mayor‘s proposal regarding our Metro Budget and what our City is facing with respect to pension costs and other relevant matters.

Like many of my colleagues on the Metro Council, I believe it is important to go out in the community to talk about what the city is facing financially. It is important for folks to understand our options and clear up any misinformation out there as the debate continues. I want to hear from as many of you as possible as we are working on a third approach to our budget crisis including a combination of budget cuts along with a tax increase. I believe as an elected official we must lead by example. Therefore, I am willing to reduce my salary, my office budget, and my discretionary funding first.

This Town Hall meeting will take place at the Magazine Street SDA Church at 1942 Magazine Street on Tuesday, March 12th beginning at 6:30 p.m. Joining me will be Daniel Frockt, CFO of  Louisville Metro and other Louisville Metro representatives.

Pastor George Thornton  invited others and me in an effort to offer insight so citizens throughout our community can make informed and intelligent decisions about what is being proposed. I will be there to give my thoughts and listen to your concerns.

For more information about this Town Hall Meeting contact Christa Robinson, Legislative Assistant, in my office at 574-1104.

Hope to see your Tuesday evening,

Barbara Sexton Smith

Metro Councilwoman District 4
