District 13 Black History Month Honoree, Yvette Gentry

As a part of Black History Month, the Louisville Metro Council hosts a program honoring outstanding individuals in our community from each Council District.

Councilman Mark Fox selected Yvette Gentry from District 13 resident. Her sister, Melodie Humphrey, pictured above between Councilman Fox and Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin, accepted on her behalf.  

Mrs. Gentry served 24 years with Louisville Metro Police Department retiring as Deputy Chief in 2014 & 2 years as Chief of Community Building for Louisville Metro until retiring in 2017.

She currently serves as Project Director for Metro United Way’s Black Male Achievement Initiative and Executive Director of the Rajon Rondo Foundation.

Mrs. Gentry married her high school sweetheart, Donald and is the proud mother of four boys.

Fairdale Library "Cafe' LOUIE" Brings Out Large Crowd

Councilman Mark Fox, KY State Representatives McKenzie Cantrell and Jeff Donohue spoke with residents and constituents last Saturday at the Fairdale Library as part of the League of Women Voters program, Cafe' LOUIE which is hosted by the Louisville Free Public Libraries. Erica Smith from the Office of Management & Budget and   Lajara, Teresa, liaison with the Mayor's Office were also in attendance to address questions and concerns regarding the proposed tax increase and budget cuts.

If you were not able to attend this session, you can attend the Cafe" LOUIE at the Iroquois Library This Saturday, Feb. 23.  Councilman Fox will be in attendance at a  meeting hosted by Councilwoman Nicole George D21.  Learn about the current status of the budget, contributing factors to the deficit and provide feedback on how you would prioritize services and spending in our budget for our most vital services.
