The following information came directly from KYDOT District 5:
"We do have a project in development for the addition of turning lanes at this intersection. The project team elected to construct left turn lanes on Taylorsville Road at the intersection and to also reduce the offset in the S. Pope Lick Road approaches. We will keep the bike/ped path under the Taylorsville Road bridge.
Once design is complete, there may be some right-of-way to be acquired and utilities to relocate. The current schedule would have this project advertised for construction bids in late 2020.
A signal analysis would not be performed until after the turn lanes are constructed to see if the intersection improvements have helped to mitigate the crash issues."

Kentucky is making significant improvements to increase the security of the identity credential you rely on most through the Confident Kentucky initiative. Following a statewide rollout starting in March 2019 and ending in May, all driver’s licenses, permits and personal IDs will have new security features, arrive in the mail 5-10 business days after residents apply at their local Circuit Court Clerk’s office, will be moving to an eight-year lifespan and have new pricing. Once available in your county of residence, the next time you renew your current credential or if you are a first-time cardholder, you'll choose a credential in one of two new versions: standard or Voluntary Travel ID credential. Voluntary Travel ID versions have all the benefits of a standard credential plus they are federally accepted to board U.S. domestic flights and access restricted federal facilities once REAL ID enforcement begins nationwide on October 1, 2020. Documentation is required when applying for a Voluntary Travel ID, if you are a first-time cardholder or if you want a standard credential and your personal information has changed. Be confident you'll arrive prepared when applying for a new credential by following the steps below or choosing from the menu of resources. https://drive.ky.gov/ConfidentKY/Pages/default.aspx

 Cat of the Week:
Sweet Layla is a shy kitten who spent her first few months of life roaming the Jeffersontown area. A good Samaritan brought her to the LMAS Shelter and she’s now ready for a forever home. Layla feels safe in quiet dark places, so it may take her some time to warm up to new people. Layla is approximately 4 months old and she’s spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations. You can adopt Layla by making a $150 donation to the Pay It Forward Program at Animal House Adoption Center, located at 3516 Newburg Tuesday-Sunday 12-6pm. Questions about Layla? Send an email to animalservicesadoption@louisvilleky.gov or call 502-473-PETS.
 Dog of the Week:
Freya is ready to meet her forever family. The approximately 3-year-old Akita mix has a friendly, laidback personality and a beautiful brindle coat. Freya knows some commands and appears to be housetrained. She weighs about 45lbs, so her adoption fee is waived for an approved adopter. Freya is already spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. To adopt Freya, visit Animal House Adoption Center (3705 Manlslick Rd.) Tuesday-Sunday 12-6pm. Questions? Email animalservicesadoption@louisvilleky.gov or call 502-473-PETS.

For the counties of Bullitt, Franklin, Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble
Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may occur, so the information below is strictly of an advisory nature and is subject to change with no notice.
Pothole patching, sweeping, drain & ditch cleaning, pavement marking, and maintenance crews may work on major interstates in the Louisville Metro area only during non-peak daytime hours and at night. Motorists should watch for roadside maintenance and pavement marking crews on interstates and highways throughout the rest of the district on a daily basis.
Jefferson County:
Interstate 65 North: Shoulder closures and delays possible at mile marker 128 due to work on traffic detection loops. This work will be performed during daytime hours.
Interstate 64 West: The exit ramp to I-264 West (Exit 12) is reduced to 11 feet in width due to widening construction. Some delays are possible in this work zone. The shoulder is closed under the flyover ramp to I-264 West (mile marker 12.3) due to ramp widening.
Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway) West: Lane shifts in place between I-64 and Taylorsville Road (mile markers 16.9 to 18.8) due to construction of an auxiliary lane.
US 31W (Dixie Highway) North: Lane closures and delays possible at Burnett Avenue (mile marker 18.3) due to installation of a micro-trench for conduit and fiber optic cables. Right lane will be closed daily from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. This process will take several weeks to complete as crews progress north to West Broadway.
US 31W (Dixie Highway): Lane closures and sidewalk closures in place between Blanton Lane and Crums Lane (mile markers 12.5 to 15.3) due to construction for access management and bus rapid transit lines. Roadway is reduced to two lanes northbound between Upper Hunters Trace and Heaton Road. Roadway is reduced to two lanes on southbound Dixie Highway between Blanton Lane and Upper Hunters Trace. Roadway is reduced to one lane southbound and two lanes northbound between Herbert Avenue and Crums Lane. In these areas where the lane closures are in place, the sidewalks are closed on the side where the roadwork is taking place. Pedestrians need to cross Dixie Highway at a signalized intersection and use the sidewalk on the other side of the road instead of walking through the construction work.
KY 864 (Poplar Level Road): Roadway will be closed between KY 1747 (Fern Valley Road) and KY 2052 (Shepherdsville Road), mile marker 6.5 to 7.4, due to removal and replacement of concrete pavement. This closure is scheduled from 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25 until 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28. Motorists will be detoured via Fern Valley Road and Shepherdsville Road.
KY 3084 (Old Henry Road): The right turn lane between I-265 and Nelson Miller Parkway (mile marker 0.8 to 1.1) is closed due to contractor corrective work for slope stabilization.
Bullitt County:
KY 61 (Preston Highway): Construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway near Cooper Run Road (mile marker 11.8) due to removal of trees and brush for new interchange to I-65.
Franklin County:
Routine maintenance
Henry County:
Interstate 71: Shoulder closures and delays possible between the Henry/Oldham County line and the bridge over the Little Kentucky River (mile markers 24.6 to 28.1) due to drainage work. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 MPH.
Oldham County:
I-71 North: Lane shifts in place at the KY 146 underpass (mile marker 17.4) due to overhead bridge repairs. The lane widths are reduced from 12 feet to 11 feet. The speed limit in this work zone is reduced to 60 MPH.
KY 146 (LaGrange Road): The entrance ramp to I-71 North (mile marker 5.8) is closed due to pier cap replacement at a bridge over I-71. This ramp will remain closed through the end of January 2019. Motorists on KY 146 that need to access I-71 North should follow the signed detour via KY 146 East to KY 393 South and then access the interstate.
KY 362 (Ash Avenue): Roadway is reduced to one lane between Dunnlea Drive and Ashbrooke Drive (mile marker 2.0 to 2.2) due to drainage improvement. A temporary signal is in place to control traffic through this work zone.
Shelby County:

Spencer County:
KY 2885 (West River Road): Roadway is closed at mile marker 3.8 near Glasscock Sawmill due to embankment slide repairs. The road will remain closed thru early February. Motorists will need to detour this area via KY 55 and KY 652.
