 |
At all Feeders Supply stores, 100% of proceeds will benefit 10 local animal rescue groups.
For the 31st year in a row, Santa Claus and over 800 volunteers will take time out of their busy schedules to help local homeless animals.
The annual Picture Your Pets with Santa at all 23 Feeders Supply stores will be held the first two weekends in December on Saturdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
The event is expected to attract over 5,000 families and raise over $100,000 for 10 local animal charities: the Kentucky Humane Society, Floyd County Animal Rescue League, Franklin County Humane Society, Humane Society of Oldham County, Lexington Humane Society, Saving Sunny, Shamrock Pet Foundation, Barktown Rescue, Boone County Animal Control and J.B. Ogle Animal Shelter.
While dogs and cats are the most common participants, animals of all species are welcome, as well as their human families. Some of the more unusual guests have included chickens, bunnies, bearded dragons, guinea pigs and even horses.
Dec. 1-2 and 8-9 pet owners can get professional holiday portraits and help local homeless animals at the same time. Photos are offered in various packages, starting at $12. Gift items featuring the pet’s photo, including ornaments, mugs and key chains are also available, starting at $14.
Pet owners are asked to have dogs on leashes and cats and other pets in carriers. Horses can be photographed outside with Santa.
Picture Your Pets with Santa is a volunteer-driven event, and 100% of proceeds benefit the participating animal rescue organizations. Picture Your Pets with Santa is sponsored by Feeders Supply with Natural Balance Pet Food, Park Community Credit Union and PetFirst Pet Insurance.
The Dixie Highway Feeders Supply location (10948 Dixie Hwy) will support the Kentucky Humane Society.
Bring all of your furry family members to snap a picture with Santa during this festive charitable opportunity!
Metro Animal Services Pets of the Week
 Hodor, MALE DOG
Hodor is an energetic, young dog that needs a home for the holidays. Hodor is an approximately 1-year-old, Treeing Walker Hound-Great Dane mix. He’s friendly, sweet and very treat-motivated. Teaching this smart boy new tricks should be fairly easy. Hodor can be tested with other dogs but needs a home with no cats. He’d do best in an active family with time to take him on hikes or walks. Hodor weighs about 60 lbs. He’s already neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. Take him home for free with an approved application. To meet Hodor, visit Animal House Adoption Center Tuesday-Sunday 12-6pm. Send questions to animalservicesadoption@louisvilleky.gov.

 Dexter and Delila, CAT SIBLINGS
Dexter and Delila are bonded siblings that couldn’t bear to be separated. The five-year-old black and smoke gray cats want a home for the holidays instead being in the shelter. Both cats are friendly but Delila is somewhat shy. The adorable siblings are free for an approved adopter thanks to the Pay It Forward Free Adoptions Program. Both are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. Meet Dexter and Delila at Animal House Adoption Center, located at 3516 Newburg Rd., Tuesday-Sunday 12-6pm. Questions? Email LMAS at animalservicesadoption@louisvilleky.gov.
